I got around that by installing a copy of Firefox locally when I wasn't on the VPN. No one seems to care.

The thing is, I'd really like to whitelist MGoBlog. The invasiveness of the ads here makes that impossible.

Do you have any more information about this? Any info you can gather. Is that gray box a screenshot? I haven't seen this thing so I can't really tell the ad networks anything about it, but I've sent them this thread.

I've been seeing "gray box" images here for about a week now. If you right click them, open image in new tab, only then can I see what the actual image is.

Does anyone else’s browser jump up to the top of the page when you upvote? I’m on Chrome.

The upvote link points to a hashtag, which will go to the top of the screen without help from JavaScript to prevent the default behavior. The best guess I have without trying to go much further is if I remove the click handler on that link pointed to "https://mgoblog.com/modules/custom/mgo_vote/js/mgo_vote.js" it does exactly what you described. This probably means you have an ad blocker blocking that script.

Yes, when ever I access this page on my iPhone through Safari, it always jumps to the top of page 1 whenever I post a comment. But not on my google browser via my laptop.

Try clearing your browser history. That file may have been updated during the upgrade.
EDIT: I use Chrome but had an outdated Safari cache of this site. I just tested it on iOS v17.1.1, and it was doing the same thing you described - I fixed it by going to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > (Search for MgoBlog), swiping left, and deleting, or you can scroll all the way down and Remove All Data.

Fixable issue: Clear your browser cache. I had a sticky atop the message board for a few days about this:

One thing we don't QA before going to production is what ad blockers do to the site, but yeah, they do tend to mess with the points scripts.

My iapd every once in awhile has a Mcaffe pop up saying I have a virus. I've also been getting the "rotate your device' screen again. Those Buckeyes are rascalls.

I’m on iPhone 17.1.1 and using Chrome. I have always experienced issues trying to use any browser without going private or incognito.
All of a sudden something happened about 6 weeks ago and I could use the regular browser with no issues at all. It was great, but it reverted again about two weeks ago.
A few days ago I got a new behavior. I can open the site in the regular browser, but not long after it opens and all the ads load up it goes dark and errors out.
It isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it’s annoying when I want to post or respond on the board in the incognito tab since it tends to log you out quickly.
I’d be happy to help mods out if there are any stats or settings to look through that might lend toward a fix.

Sorry Seth, I should have added that I saw that sticky and cleared the cache. It didn’t fix the problem. In fact, I think that might actually be what led to the new behavior of the page opening briefly and then erroring out after ads and everything else completely load.

Since the latest update, whenever I try to give a thumbs up or thumbs down I get kicked back to the original post. Anyone know how to stop that?
