Better then the alternate crap we have gotten from Adidas.
Adidas has been nothing short of horrible. I am not worried about Nike at all. Their Pro Combat alternates have been pretty darn good.
I will always prefer the classic / traditional uniforms, but when it comes to spicing it up a bit, Nike kicks everyones rear end. Our Bumble Bee and other special Uni's have been less than flattering in my opinion. I have not liked what Under Armour or Adidas have done with "special uniforms". They go WAY over the top. But maybe kids like that now. What do I know!? I am a goofy middle aged man. Where's my coffee and paper!!!
but I really like the all blue alternates in UTL 2011 against Notre Dame, or maybe it is because I associate it with the game, I don't know

...that's everyone's opinion with eyeballs.

I hope people realize that coaches and AD's have a say in any team worn apparel that the companies make for them. It's not like Nike has 100% rights to make whatever the hell they want to. Dantonio and/or the AD gave approval to this design. Same goes for Michigan and Adidas.
This is why I am rather intrigued to see what the results of that survey they passed around to the athletes regarding apparel might be and how - if at all - that affects the path that Michigan will ultimately take regarding vendors. Maybe it does or maybe there has been some idea about where to go all along, but it will be interesting to see how stark the style differences between the last administration and the current one might be as we get into this season and beyond.
above, it is the "alternates" more than anything that Adidas has really struggled with. Michigan basketball unis, while rather "template" are not that bad, and I have not objected to much with the standard football look, aside from some inconsistency with the away jerseys, but their alternate concepts have been nearly universally horrible. And it is not as though we don't have good colors to work with here, the execution has just been shockingly bad.
Then when the hit on a good idea it is quickly abandoned. I thought our NCAA tourney uniforms two years ago were pretty damn nice, I don't know why those are not just our all the time basketball uni.
LSA...I hope you are right!! It would be smart to listen to the current and prospective athletes and hear what brands / vendors they believe bring value. Unfortunately, I think it is 100% a financial decision. Whoever ponies up the sweetest deal wins. Being an EPL fan and rooting for Liverpool I cannot bring myself to buy their last two kits (jersey's). I am not going to drop $100 for a Warrior branded jersey,or even worse, for their current New Balance jersey.
But you'd drop $100 if it had a swoosh/three stripes/puma on it? Sounds like you're more a fan of the brand than the team.

If they're only surveying athletes at Michigan, its doubtful any of them would say "I would never choose a school with Adidas"... they need a better, more random sample. But thats just the IOE in me
OTOH, they will have actually used Adidas gear, and so will be better positioned to actually comment on how well it stacks up, as opposed to high school kids responding mostly to advertising.

They will certainly have a useful insight regarding the Adidas gear, but you'd have to make a lot of assumptions to consider their opinions representative of the population.
I've read recently that Dantonio had direct talks with Nike about getting the green pants they first wore against Michigan for 2013 game in EL. Maybe Brady was indifferent (likely) or Brandon has more choices in uniform design (also likely).
It looks really weird seeing a little dude wearing the #66, since the players that normally wear it are just a wee bit larger.
Meh. It is just a number. I never understood why certain position players are expected to wear certain numbers. The NFL is very strict about this and it is just silly. If an offensive tackle wants to wear number five, let him. It is just a number.
In a game where pre-snap formation is both important and dependent on particular rules regarding eligibility to handle the ball, the use of eligible and ineligible numbers are necessary. While I agree with your point re: defensive players, the distinctions are needed on offense (though important to note, the defensive numbering scheme is probably just a throwback to when players played on both sides of the ball)

the game of football do you....?

maybe you should just sit this one out champ.
Every thread about uniforms someone worries about these companies "messing up" Michigan's traditional uniforms. There are many examples of Nike maintaining the consistent, traditional look (Texas, Penn State, Alabama). It is entirely up to the school how much Uniformz they want to adopt. Don't blame Adidas for the bumblebee uniforms of the past, blame Dave Brandon. With Harbaugh and Hackett, it appears that Michigan is (rightly) going more traditional. So stop your hand wringing and bark up the correct tree.
When we were with Nike I cannot remember any complaints. Seems like such a long time ago though. I am fairly certain Michigan will move back to Nike, but UA has gained some traction in the marketplace. I wonder what a poll result of this board would be regarding the top 3, Nike, UA, Adidas? My guess 70% Nike, 15% Adidas, 15% UA.
We had a different athletic director then. Brandon let or made adidas do everything they did.

Eh, Martin left right before the whole Uniformz movement started taking off. I guarantee we'd have had a Pro Combat look if we had stayed with Nike, and Martin probably would have signed off on it. RR almost definitely would have been cool with it (he's had alternates in AZ) and Hoke obviously did too.
Honestly Harbaugh is the only personality we've had in the Uniformz era blunt enough to turn them down, will be interesting to see if he does. Then again he likes helmet stickers, so there's no accounting for taste.

AZ is pretty much Oregon south in the Pac12 with 3 helmets, 3 jerseys and 3 sets of pants. RR also had the yellow jerseys are WV.

ALL of Nike's designs are better than adidas. Not just their uniformz but also their general shoe and apparel designs are more attractive.
Deadspin posted something about this but basically Nike destroys all other brands in preference among teenagers, and that's because their shit looks cooler.
Whatever company lets us keep our traditional uniforms the majority of the time. Let MSU do the gold and silver stuff.
Impeccable timing.
The jerseys are actually not bad considering the ugly colors they have to work with.
That shit show MSU will en wearing is better than anything alternative we've had the last 5 years..
The only really bad alternate Michigan had was the white bumblebee ones.
Shut the f*ck up, Mikey.....haha, I did it! haha
Gimme another caucasian Jackie...
bumblebee was bad, the Outback bowl was bad, the highlighter basketball unis with the highlighter shoes was bad, this years Big Ten tourney basketball unis were bad, the "camo" basketball ones were so bad that we refused to wear them. The Alabama alternate was OK I guess and I wasn't particularly offended by OTL uniforms this year, but the problem goes well beyond bumblebee.
state has had that same stupid font since they let Nike rebrand them awhile ago.
It's not a different font, it's just thinner.
Look at the 4s. Same number, just now it's a hair thinner throughout.
Not by much.
If there's a difference I'm not seeing it.
The only game in the history of college football when MSU had better uniforms than M
Both uniforms were pretty hideous in that game.
I'm still upset that we lost to Baylor that day.
Uniformz are a function of not just the apparel company, but what the school wants. MSU desperately wanted a rebrand, and Nike gave it to them. Now they're running with it, and it's not terrible, comparatively speaking. They're sort of building an identity.
And here we go.......
I know people would lose their fucking minds on here, but I'd like to see what a Maize jersey on Blue pants combo would look like.
Nike Maize, not adidas Maize since Michigan is most likely headed back.
Here is why that will never happen.

Best case scenario (i.e under the lights), it looks like this.
Go to bed.
