Actually Fritz Crisler had them at Princeton BEFORE us. Princeton’s colors are orange and black.

Yes, but Princeton dropped the design as soon as Crisler left, only to belatedly readopt it 60 years later. We OTOH embraced it from the start. It justifiably is called the "Michigan helmet" today.

Indeed. Always found this to be an odd move by Princeton. When a look becomes popularized and iconic to one school for over half a century, it seems rather odd to pull out the, "we used it for a couple seasons 60 years ago, so now we love it," reason.
