Scout: C. Murphy favoring Maryland

(Grimes, too, has Maryland in his top 3 w/ Ole Miss) 2) Does Maryland also lead for Grimes? 3) Is Rashad Knight still a "lock" for UM --- and should UM lock him in now? 4) Is Scout correct on Murphy favoring Maryland?

In TomVH's interview with Grimes he said
TOM: Are you and Clarence still planning on going to the same school? TONY: As far as this point, yes that's the plan.
Doesn't sound solid that they're going to the same place, more hopeful.

1) Maybe, they have said so in the past 2) No, I have been hearing Miami is making a charge 3) Was he ever? I haven't heard this anywhere. 4) I think they may be correct today, probably not tomorrow.

But I would have assumed that the type of person who would post over 1,000 on mgoblog and obviously checks scout.com from time to time would know that scout's "interest" category is notoriously unreliable and outdated. Just saying.

Have you ever worked for a company that relies on tons of data entry? Scout.com is like this, in the programming, I'm sure every team on the list has a little drop down with the options "High, medium, low interest". Some unpaid idiot intern like 5 months ago probably just forgot to change the drop down for Michigan from "medium" to "high". Not an issue.

That is a mistake on the Scouts site. Someone got Maryland and Michigan mixed up. There doesn't seem to be an article on the site that says Maryland is now leading.

Let's keep in mind that package deals often aren't package deals. Early in the process, guys want to go to school together. Then when they realize that not every school really wants both of them, they choose different schools. Or when they realize they'll be better off in different places, they go different places. Grimes has always been the more likely candidate to come to Michigan. Murphy was offered late in the process when Grimes was still insistent that they were a package deal. Now we're seeing them start to slide in different directions. This is how it often seems to go.

Nothing against Murphy - I hope he succeeds wherever he goes - but I hope he and Grimes do end up splitting ways. With so many prospects still in the mix right now, I would love for a scholarship to go to another position of need. I felt a twinge of hope when I read your post, so I hope this is the outcome.

Murphy was a bit of a throw-in offer. We really don't need another DE in this class, especially if Wilkins and Paskorz both stay committed. I'm wondering if the coaches have kind of backed off on recruiting Murphy hard.

I agree that there are still a few guys out there that we might not be able to take if Murphy comes, but at the same time at least we know he is coming, instead of the ? that the other guys present, but at the same time i think that we could get someone "better" to take his spot if he doesnt come to Michigan
