Schefter says Oakland to make major changes at GM, "ready to spend"
Oakland preparing for sweeping changes that involve its GM Reggie McKenzie, according to league sources. Mark Davis getting ready to spend.

Schefter misunderstood. Davis is really getting ready to spend on a new wardrobe and hairstylist.

This picture was probably taken after labor day too.

Same haircut even.

I'm not saying this thread is gold or anything, but I think you're over-using that gif.

there have been far too many CC related threads with little information or value.

This is information on what our direct competition is doing to get Harbaugh.

If you're gonna be the guy that is going to post every coaching update, you need to have thicker skin. Between this thread and your last thread, I'm not quite sure you have the appropriate temperament.
December 14th, 2014 at 12:32 PM ^
When I see a comment that doesn't make sense or isn't looking at things objectively, I am free to note that. That hardly equates to being thin-skinned.
December 14th, 2014 at 12:43 PM ^
It's MGoBlog. It's a coaching search. Good news is credible. Bad news is bullshit. Your pleas for objectivity are useless. Edits like, "It's not good news but for Christ's sake people, be objective," makes it seem like you're losing it. Hopefully you aren't. Carry on.

Internet comments should not be read like a movie script. More often than not, emphasis in a comment does not actually mean that someone is doing anything other than sitting there typing at their keyboard.

The ghost of Al Davis says "Jim, it's time to come home."
Nope . . . doesn't have the same ring.
December 14th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
And I qoute How about we put the full court press on Les Miles or Bob Stoops and get this drama over with. No offense to Jim but Michigan has got things it needs to get done.

Do you really think Les or LSU cares that much about the Music City Bowl? We're pretty clearly in Harbaugh wait-and-see mode now, unless we're also after an NFL coach or someone involved in the CFP or another big bowl. What that does mean, though, is that it gives our other targets a nice excuse to focus on their current teams while we figure out what our obvious #1 target is doing.
If Harbaugh had said no already (which I doubt) and Miles were Michigan's next choice (which I also doubt), I think we'd have already seen Miles' hiring press conference.
December 14th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
and the silence from Miles' and, more generally, the LSU fan base, would seem to indicate that harbaugh is the target...moreso than Harbaugh's silence.
December 14th, 2014 at 12:04 PM ^
If we wait indefinitely, Harbaugh's options may open up and it could be harder to get him. We should not offer an unreasonable deadline. Perhaps we could even leave some uncertainty about the exact date that we would hire another coach. But some time pressure is usually good for a negotiation..
December 14th, 2014 at 11:59 AM ^
1. Draft picks. SF will want these in trade (and Harbaugh would not want his next team to give up anything substantial).
2. Geography. Gertrude Stein once said of Oakland: "there is no there there." The saying takes new meaning in the Harbaugh recruitment, as there is no certainty that going to Oakland will mean going to Oakland. Who knows where the team will be in a year or two? Who knows how Harbaugh and family will react to the uncertainty.
If Oakland moves to LA, then Harbaugh will be closer to his ex-wife and family (who live between Anaheim and San Diego). But I wonder how Harbaugh’s current wife would like that. Harbaugh already has precious little time to spend with his current family.
On the other hand, if Oak does not go to LA, there is likely to be at least a year of uncertainty about where they will go. They are not likely to stay in their current stadium, and the owner mentions the possibility for a Raiders move to San Antonio.*
DAVIS: “it’s just amazing that a city that never had a team and wants one–what they’ll go to to bring one there….–the desire for a team from San Antonio, it’s just really amazing.” Davis goes on to say that the NFL’s G4 fund for a stadium would apply for a move to another such place.
If Harbaugh and his wife think that taking an Oak job would avoid the need to move, they had better think twice. If Harbaugh comes to UM, at least his family will know where they are staying and where their kids will grow up. Harbaugh’s wife also would be closer to her family in Kansas. In addition, they would have a lot more job security than afforded by the NFL. That might start to mean something if Harbaugh loses today and is let go by SF soon.

Its asinine to say say that if Oakland throws coach/GM at him they will get him.
Also the Raiders aren't GB, Pitt, or Dallas. They aren't one of the league's most famour teams. Do you realize how many guys have thought they were bringing back the Raiders and failed? It is a long list.
