SB vs Georgia in Super Regional at 6pm

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

EDIT: The game is on ESPN2

The SB Team takes on Georgia today at 6pm.  We beat the Bulldog--ettes yesterday.  One more win out of 2 tonight and we are off to The OKC.  The game is on ESPNU.

As most people on MGoBlog know, my daughter is a Staff Sargent in the USAF.  She is the Lead Weather Person and has responsibility for the country East of the Mississippi.  She gave me the Unofficial MgoWeather Forecast for 6pm in AA.  It will be 63 degrees with 28% RH.  Winds will be out of the NW at 10 MPH.  This may limit our homerun potential however the Indoor Track building does shield the wind somewhat.

Thanks to MGoDaughter for her service and her love of softball, especially M Softball.  Everyone please thank a Service Person (Active or Retired) and show them that you appreciate everything they sacrificed for us.

Oh, and Go Blue.

Don't think I've ever watched a softball game before. Watching the michigan ladies play tough in front of a full home crowd while singing and dancing in the dugout is so heartwarming.

So I wikipedia'd some NCAA softball history and it seems to me UCLA's coach is a modern day John Wooden softball version.

Same with Arizona...

I'm guessing those 2 are the coaches ahead of Hutch in wins?

Mike Candrea (Arizona) and Hutch have very similar win totals, although he got the nod for the last Olympic team and has pretty extensive national team experience as well.

UCLA's current coach hasn't won a title or been there very long, but UCLA in general is Wooden-era basketball on a diamond. Their program has won eleven of the thirty-three national championships.

Also this doesn't really have much to do with coaching, but UCLA assistant coach Lisa Fernandez is the UCLA softball equivilant of having Tom Brady as an assistant football coach in Ann Arbor.

She's won everything imaginable as a pitcher, three gold medals and is in the hall of fame. To drive the point home I was at a regional UCLA was in a few years back and girls on the other three teams were asking for autographs. Pretty cool woman from what I could tell.
