SB @ Big Ten Tourney Open Thread

UPDATE:  The SB Team has a mercy-rule win over Northwestern 9-0 with a walk off homer from Tera.  Now let's keep the mojo going tonight.

The Softball Team is playing round 3 today in the Big Ten Tourney at Ohio State.  Game time is set for 3:30pm on the Big Ten Network.  We had a first round bye.

Yesterday the team smoked Penn St 16-1 to advance.  Today we play Northwestern in the Semis.   Northwestern barely defeated #12 Purdue in a close and exciting game 3-0.

If, and only if we win against Northwestern, then the team advances to the Championship against the winner of #10 Iowa / #3 Nebraska. The Championship Game is set for 8:30pm tonight.

Game time temperature is forecasted to be 86F with a 20% chance of showers.  The chance of rain increases as the day progresses.  So it remains to be seen if the second game or the Championship game gets played today.  I would not be surprised if either of the later games gets moved to tomorrow.

Yesterday #10 Iowa beat #2 Minny.  Iowa certainly had a disappointing season as they were projected to finish in the top half of the conference.  They are the "hot" team and could very well beat Nebraska.  I would rather play Nebraska than Iowa if I had a choice.

Today should be some good ball and Nationally televised to boot.  So Let's Go Blue and bring home a Tourney Championship.

How about them apples!  3-run triple from Christner, and this game has officially been blown WIDE open.  This is a great illustration of why she is so integral to this team - NW basically pitched around Romo with an open base once they got behind in the count, but all that did was give Christner the RBIs instead of Romero.  Fantastic work.

Florida & Oregon--almost certainly ahead of us.

Auburn--ahead of us if they win, behind us if they lose.

LSU--close call, but I think we are ahead of them if we win tonight.

Alabama & Tennessee--almost certainly behind us.

So that leaves Michigan 3rd, 4th or 5th overall.

Early guess at the regional matchup:  #1 Michigan, #2 Pac-12 team (ASU, Utah or Washington), #3 ACC team (Va Tech or Louisville), #4 Oakland University.

Glad you could get in on the action.  There were 2 of our runners that were called out but upon replay, were clearly safe.  The announcers were bragging up Northwestern as great in gettting runners out blah, blah blah.  The runners were out because of 2 bad calls and the announcers did not say anything about the bad calls.

The bad calls DID NOT affect the game much so it is just the point that the announcers did not even mention umpire error.  They were talking up Northwestern as if they were the favorite to win it all.

What a team this is!

Great job by Betsa -- she's en fuego -- but is Wager going to get even one meaningful inning in this tournament? She will be needed soon so hopefully this doesn't affect her confidence.

In 5 games at Buckeye Field this season, Michigan has outscored their opponents 71-3 (and counting).

for posting WD.  We certainly have the offense this year.  In the recent past, we have struggled to get runs across.  We relied too much on our pitching, mainly Jordan Taylor, to win games.

Can you imagine how good we would have been if we could give Jordan this type of power?  YIKES....

I would almost feel sorry for the rest of the field.....on second thought....nahhh.

If you wanna listen to announcers who aren't full of BS you can always listen to WCBN's stream. The trade-off is that there's a delay, and we make too many puns.

Can't believe Lockman isn't getting the start.

Might be worth starting another open thread to let everyone know Michigan is playing in the championship game now.
