Rumor-Warriner to Jax and Sherrone Moore to coach OL?

Submitted by WoodleyIsBeast on January 23rd, 2021 at 7:04 PM

Neg me to oblivion if this doesn’t happen, however there has been some chatter on Twitter that Ed Warriner is heading to Jacksonville to join Urban Meyer’s staff. Sherrone Moore has been rumored to be the replacement OL coach.

Urban won’t raid Ryan Day’s staff, but ours is fair play. Par for the course.

Rumor that West Bloomfield high schools Ron Bellamy is coming onto the staff in a unnamed position too.     Times they are a changing at Michigan

I don't follow HS football in Michigan at all anymore, but I remember when I lived in the state and caught some local sports show in Lansing and they kept bringing up this distinction between teams that won based on "talent" vs. teams that won on "coaching" and it sounded like the dumbest distinction in the world to me at the HS level.  He seemingly took a not-good West Bloomfield team and turned them into one of the better teams in the state; that's pretty impressive to me and doesn't strike me as something you pull off just by getting a couple of kids to move to your district.

I have no idea if Bellamy is going to be a good coach at UM, but "his team that just won the state title after a 4-year run where they were one of the best teams in the state in spite of him" seems like a weird take.

Co-OC? Wow.

Nothing against Moore, but after the talk of a guy like Moorhead coming in, this... is more of a deck chair shuffle. Unless Moore has shown some real breakout potential inside the room, but then, I'd have thought we'd have heard stuff like that leaked by now.

Honestly, it sounds like more of a referendum on Gattis than anything else.

We're going to find out once and for all if Michigan football's issue is mainly a talent shortcoming.  This new-look coaching staff (except perhaps MM, and maybe he'll be good at it too) is being built for recruiting and let the chips fall where they may from there.  High Risk : High Reward : Possible Disaster : Potential Phoenix.

This should not be surprising when Michigan gives Harbaugh a contract with next to nothing for a buyout. He has no job security. I can imagine the other big name assistant candidates preferred to explore other opportunities not wanting the risk of having to find another job in just one year.

No it's more like what Brian Kelly did at Notre Dame after his 4-8 year..

He literally fired everyone, and re-hired less experienced coordinators and has been more successful with lesser known guys ever since..

Kelly doesn't really have anyone that is a household name as a coordinator and i think any of us would take what they are doing right now even if we lost in the playoffs too

I liked Warriner or whatever the hell his name is but truthfully the team can lose 4 or 5 games with or without him. Hardly an insurmountable hurdle, however Harbaugh may already be at the insurmountable hurdle, might not even be able to clear a hill of beans. Let's see. Maybe the young guns can recruit to a level the LSU coach could win a natty with.

Moore is currently the best recruiter ever at UofM; Bellamy replaces the hole left after Wheatley.

And considering Warinner's performance as OC without Tom Herman, not sure why he's "clashing" with the younger staff here, especially the current OC.

Seems a little petty, almost like he was undermining.

Matters not though, in the end I think there needs to be one voice for the offense this year, Gattis or die.

Is Warriner's son still on the team? He had transferred from State. Personally, love the youth movement, can relate to the players and get them motivated.  Now Harbaugh needs to be the CEO and stay the hell back.

I don’t think they did. I live in in the Jacksonville area. A few weeks ago, I heard a limousine coming through my neighborhood and it parked in the for sale sign nextdoor. A gray haired man and his wife went inside the house. They looked oddly like Urban and Shelley Meyer. Last night, I saw the limousine leave and a nice looking, moderately-priced car entering the driveway. Then, a large figure walked out of the car and into the house. He was wearing a Jags hat. An hour later, I hear vigorous moaning coming from the other house. Maybe the wife took the limo and left her husband home? I don’t know. Maybe that is the reason why Warriner is going to JAX? I don’t know.
