Rumblings on JT....

Submitted by karpodiem on
Although I would deem it unlikely that the OGT Turner had taken 12 days ago has already been graded, there are a few unsubstantiated rumblings on $ sites that he might have not qualified. Usually the mods there squash things of this nature, so a non-response is...worrying. Considering our need at safety, I hope this proves to be untrue.

Every update that has come out on the "internets" seems to say that JT should be okay. It seems like Rivals and Scout sometimes sensationalize a bit just to drum up interest during dead periods (ie right now) Hopefully Tom shows up and dispels this rumor....

Well it doesn't do anything for our need at safety - he was recruited as a cornerback. But regardless, it's all rumors right now, and apparently a "backup plan" is being made for prep school. Considering just days ago it was "no worries from the good guys" and now a "backup plan" may be in the works.....

God he better have made it. If he didn't thats just ridiculous. You should be able to pass these tests in 3rd grade. If he didn't make it will he be here in a year? Juco?

JUCOs are for kids with GPAs in the 1.0s and low 2.0s. For Turner, I've heard two different scenarios: 1. He goes to prep school for a semester, takes the OGT again in December (or January), passes it, and enrolls at UM in the winter. 2. He goes to prep school for a year, gets a diploma from there (which is the equivalent of passing the OGT/getting a regular HS diploma), and he arrives at Michigan either in the spring or summer next year. Either way, one semester or one year at a prep school does not affect NCAA eligibility, for those wondering.

This needs to be implemented as soon as humanly possible. There should be an entire section devoted to points betting. We can have a standard sports book (with lines by JamieMac of course) plus the ability for users to agree to prop bets against each other. That would be the greatest MGoPoints invention in the history of MGoPoints.

but I think the reason you are scoring points for this post is the superb use of BOLD in your comment (when I am too lazy to even look up the guide on how to do it myself via html). One day...

Why all the worrying? It seems like it's impossible for anyone to have information on whether he passed, considering the test hasn't been graded yet. Are all these panic rumors flying around because he is making a worst-case scenario plan? I think we should be encouraged that he's thinking of a backup plan

I have no inside info but I'm not too optimistic. It seems like most of these guys don't come through in their final try. (And sadly, those who do manage to get in by the skin of their teeth frequently go on to have more academic problems in college.) I'm going to assume he won't make it and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

it was back in 03 but she being pretty intelligent said that if you couldn't pass that test, that pretty much made you a moron... So who knows. Just say thank god I grew up and graduated in MI.

There are at least two Michigan-related people named "JT." One is JT Floyd. The other is Justin Turner. I know we're talking about Turner in this case, but seeing "JT" in a subject line isn't very helpful. If I put "Rumblings about MO" in the subject line, that could be Mark Ortmann or Martavious Odoms, right? Yeah. It could.
