Risk Day 46 - We Need To Clean Up This Dijon Mess In California. On The Other Hand, Things Are Looking Rather Sunny In The East.
What a mess in California. After things were looking so neat and tidy yesterday, the Dijon Jackets spread their sub-par mustard all over the northern coast of California by taking the Stanford territory. Hopefully we'll be able to clean things up tonight, but this is what happens when you let condiments roam free. To continue with this silly metaphor....California is looking more and more like a hotdog to me. Thus, optimal ownership of the state would consist of Michigan (yellow mustard) and Nebraska (ketchup). We can quibble over mustard-to-ketchup ratio, but I'm getting hungry and I'm NOT about to eat a hotdog Dijon-tainted dog.
Now let's chat about the northeast. I'm trying to figure out what new england looks like as a food, but so far all I've got is a very unattractive, misshapen popsicle. Suggestions? Regardless, we had a good night there. We retook Alaska and BC, as well as most of the Tri-State area. We DON'T have many protected territories, so we're not out of the woods, but for one day at least the forecast is looking pleasant in the east. Now that I think about it, Ohio State is definitely cloudy, miserable weather, and the Good Guys are bright, sun-shiny days. Accordingly, since I myself am an east coast kid, I would kindly ask that we do our best to keep the weather nice in my home stomping grounds.
To do that, though, we need help. We had an unexpected dip in participation last night, and I'm gonna need y'all to reverse that. While 1,339 is still impressive, it represents a significant drop off from what I KNOW we're capable of. We have just FIVE DAYS of Risk left, so let's put it all on the table. I received orders from central command yesterday. Always the good soldier, I executed. My artillery set up to prepare for the yellow coat attack. My battalion, exhausted from a day of trench preparation, waited for those distant first sounds of the oncoming assault. It's in those moments you must guard against your mind slipping into some half remembered simpler past that puts the present nightmare in full perspective. As the sounds began, and I pulled my squad up from their torpor, imagine my shock that the bullets striking us were not from the front, but from our flank, where our "ally" Nebraska assaulted and destroyed much of what we had built. It is a miracle we were able to withdraw to fight another day. But so we will. And so we will continue to follow orders that make little sense. Damn this war.
We asked Nebraska to move in to help hit GT. That way we have extra stars to spare fighting OSU
Nebraska hasn't done shit against Wisconsin. Starting to think the Badgers have the best strategy. Consolidate into one region and create a fortress. They 10 protected territories and otherwise allies (including chaos here) all around them.
Agreed, they haven't expanded much but so far are proving damned impossible to dislocate.
Now that I think about it, its kind of a great stand-in for how they run their football and basketball programs. Find a strategy with a limited upside, but one they can execute with the given resources and then get entrenched and basically be really hard to beat, but make it so there's almost no chance they'll win the whole damn thing. High Floor/ Low Ceiling.
A cheesey strategy (or is it "cheesy"?) , but it works.

I'm sure we're actually allies with them, i'm certainly not plugged in enough to know the details, on the outside my mind is weighing the difference between fighting an enemy for territory and just giving it to them. The main benefit of handing an ally territory is that we're able to divert players to other parts of the map instead of dedicating players to defending that border too, and concentrate on Ohio state and Georgia tech instead. Small losses on one coast for big gains at our rivals expense. That would be my guess, at least.
I like it, spread a weak team like Nebraska out into the West and give them some courage. Last two turns, steal all the land back from those bitches!
It looks like my fear that a lot of them using the same junk email caused a big issue. Today a lot of people texted in that they are all 1 stars and there stars aren't filled in. All of their streaks are still in tact. Can I give you all of their user names to get this fixed?

I hope the Mods are able to verify these are unique accounts and get them fixed for your friends. Out of curiosity, I checked the first two with the API tool. They would be 3 stars soon. It's a shame to lose all that power from legitimate players. Good luck to them!

Put in my first move as a 5* today, as I just completed my 100th turn overall yesterday. Shame there are only 5 days left.

I have done my part. Somehow I am associated with Air Force, so I have been attacking OSU as Chaos. Yesterday I was the only Chaos to attack the OSU territory Liberty and with a .01 chance took it from OSU! Got me an MVP as well!
