Ricardo to a H.S other than Huron???

Submitted by I Luv TDs on
Heard a rumor that Ricardo may not be attending Huron High rather a different H.S in Michigan. Speculation I heard was Pioneer. Has anyone else caught wind of this??? Personally I would like to see him at Inkster or maybe Saline.

That would be an interesting battle seeing how Pioneer and Huron are huge rivals. I could definitely see Gold, Pioneer's coach, recruiting Miller. I think the situation at Pioneer is a little more stable anyways than it is at Huron in terms of coaching/administration and player personnel. The only reason I could see him going to Inkster is if the coach there really does his homework and nabs him (I recall the coach has done plenty of recruiting with other players). Although Gardner is there, it seems to me that Ricardo Miller and his family would want to move to the Ann Arbor area to be closer to campus. Saline has a QB who is committed to Boston College FWIW

People who have an opinion on which high school Ricardo Miller attends need to seriously re-evaluate the level of investment they have in a 17 year old.

His life is more than "future WR at Michigan". Perhaps we can let him be a high schooler, and an actual person, than someone we can plan like this is "A Brave New World" or something. He goes where he wants. When he graduates, he'll play football at Michigan. Isn't that enough?

When did kids at Michigan stop smoking weed? You need to chill... No one here is asking to control Ricardo's life. They are simply saying what they think would work out best for him as a football player. In fact, even Magnus went beyond that to say that Inkster isn't where he should go despite a good program. It's not as good of a school as many in and around Ann Arbor. Since none of us have any control over it, it doesn't hurt to discuss. This is a message board, after all.

The initial response was to "Personally, I'd like to see him at Inkster, because of Gardner" (paraphrase). I can think of a huge number of reasons to go or not to go to a school. Whether he can form an earlier synergy with a future U of M QB is, IMO, sort of fucked up. Look, I get that we care where Ricardo Miller goes to college. We cheer for Michigan, so I get it. And I see how it trickles down, but it's just bizarre. I know our opinion has no impact on what he days, but, shit why do we care where a 17 year-old goes to HS, especially when OUR preference is, as stated above, to have him go to a place that makes him a better receiver - not a better human. Nobody, aside from Magnus, even ADRESSED what school had better academics, was safer, or afforded a higher quality of life. The concern was football. Period. And yes, I know this is a football blog - but it sort of creeps me out when our only concern for these kids is as pieces to plug into our football puzzle - not as an actual human.

He's gonna be there for one f-ing semester. I don't think anything life changing is going to happen at that time. Plus, that one semester will be consumed by football, since football is a fall sport. I think that is his highest priority at this point. He's still a normal high school kid. Why did I concentrate on things other than sports in high school? To get into college. He already did.

As susceptible to peer pressure as high schoolers are, I'd be surprised if anyone here would prefer for a kid to go to Inkster than some other schools. I'm not saying Inkster is suicide for him academically/socially . . . but there are better places for him to go. Besides that, Jeremy Jackson works out at the university and supposedly the two have a very tight bond. It makes very little logistical sense for Miller to move to Michigan and end up in Inkster. I don't even know why I'm talking about this. As far as I know, the only way Inkster got injected into this conversation is because commenter ________________ said somewhere above that he'd like Miller to play with Gardner. This is a very, very vague rumor . . . so I'm done commenting for now.

He's going to go to Michigan, so it's not like Inskter would turn him into some kind of moron before then Strawman. I'm merely asking why any sane person should care where a 17 year old kid decided to attend high school. Moreover, I wonder why the only criteria used by those who choose to opine is football.

that I "care" where he goes to high school, then you're pretty dense. I was merely suggesting that it would be a nice thing if he could get some time to work with Gardner. It's not like I'm sitting here obsessing about it. That being said, can I get a "chill the fuck out" from someone now?

I would not be surprised if Miller wants to transfer somewhere other than Huron. Nothing's ever guaranteed, and I don't know if Huron would be the best place for Ricardo Miller to hone his skills. Inkster has a good program, but it's INKSTER. From the way it seems to me, Ricardo Miller's family is fairly well off. I'd expect him to end up in or around Ann Arbor (Chelsea, Saline, etc.) rather than someplace like Inkster.

As a Chelsea guy I wouldn't mind seeing him here, but Saline would seem like the best situation. The football program there has been much stronger than Huron the last few years. And, as already noted, they'll have a very good quarterback this fall. Chelsea has a strong program, but I don't think they'll have a passer like Boisture. Fun fact: Chelsea had a quarterback named Drew Henson at the same time that other guy was in Brighton.

my guess is that if this is true it probably has little to do with football. they probably ended up finding a better house or a better deal on house that happened to reside within the district that goes to Pioneer. or maybe Ricardo really wanted to be as close to the stadium as possible every day.

I actually kind of agree with the WLA guys, in some way. Except for Huss, I don't think you're the one giving the reacharound. This really isn't news worthy, or important in any way. I don't care where he goes to high school. I think the only thing that matters is that the transition for him and his family, from Florida to Michigan, is as easy as possible.

In light of the backlash on this thread, I just want to say that I have interest in this thread because I actually follow high school football. Not because he's an M recruit. In the context of M football, you're right: this doesn't really matter.

Duh, it was. MSU. 2004. Remember? The sun went down, Big Blue put on the maize jerseys (Big Maize?), and BOOM! 17 point comeback! The best part, though, was probably how they piped in that dance remix of Welcome To The Jungle after every score at the end of the game. AWESOME. I remember it like it was yesterday.

This is what I meant by my earlier post welcoming more WLA, or just personality in general back into the board. This was a good debate and it likely wouldn't have happened without chi's input, right or wrong. That said, Tom is 100% right. This is the type of thread I wouldn't have commented on before, because it's mind-boggling to me that anyone could possibly care where he goes to HS. Or care to debate the merits of one HS or the other. He's already committed, can't we just welcome him in January? I'm not really criticizing those who do above, I get it, but IMO we should resist the impulse.
