[Reminder: Posting Yoder is an insta-ban]

Submitted by BKBlue94 on November 9th, 2022 at 8:48 PM

He's a parasite who makes up stuff that sounds vaguely plausible. Sharing anything from him gets you instantly banned from the site. Former names "Ace Williams" or ChatSports. OP was asking an honest question so this only cost him lots of mgopoints. -S

Original post:

Have been seeing youtube videos from this guy James Yoder all season where he says he has inside info about the football team. The things he said mostly seem plausible, but he also asks a bunch of clickbait questions to try to solicit comments, and then you don't really see what he said reported elsewhere. Like this week he's saying [redacted]. Do people trust this guy as someone who knows what he's talking about, or should I stop watching these videos?

Yes and I cannot remember another time in history when a "journalist" has been barred from covering a team.  The statement that Michigan released a couple years ago absolutely destroyed what little credibility he had.  Honestly I don't know how he still does what he does.

I've selected "not interested" and "don't recommend this channel" on his videos/channel on YouTube. But when I search for specific UM football topics his videos still appear in those search results. I always report his videos as "spam or misleading" and wish people would stop falling for his lies.

I don’t know about whether you should stop watching his videos but you should DEFINITELY not create threads about him again.

You’re about to learn why.

Well I've already learned the answer to my question, so thanks for that and I won't waste any more time on his videos. Have a feeling from the comments so far that this will get more negative than I expected. Glad to take it down but I don't really see a way to do that.

He doesn’t know shit. It’s easy to be right about “inside” stuff when you are also equally wrong about it every time he posts something. Something sticks, sure — but that’s not credible given everything that doesn’t when he is just shotgunning scoops.

Sorry if I touched a nerve, was genuinely unfamiliar with the guy and just trying to figure out if he was legit. Sounds like he's not and there's some bad blood.

Glad to take the thread down if there's a way to do so. Don't see a button for that though

Don't you worry, the mods will take it down for you.

If you really don't know he's pretty much the only person the UM Athletic Department ever put a press release out about saying don't listen to this moron because he doesn't know shit. He was lying about having inside info about players and it was pissing them off... can't remember who the specific player was in that particular instance.

OP, please do your own homework on obviously unreliable sources such as the-thing-which-shall-not-be-named.  It has come up repeatedly on MgoBlog in the past and is not worthy of another post.

I hope YOU don't get into trouble for asking about him.  Hell, I hope I don't get into trouble for commenting on a (name deleted) topic.

To bring us happy again, I give you

Q: How credible is James Yoder?

A: Not very.

Q: Do people trust this guy as someone who knows what he's talking about?

A: Not if they’re interested in facts.

Q: Should I stop watching these videos?

A: Yes.

There was this one time when I begged James Yoder to tell me the truth when we were standing on the ground, but he climbed a tree to tell me a lie.

He just throws shit around  and sees what sticks. His content is banned on this site, like everyone is saying.

It can be found here

Sharing Trolls Counts as Trolling: Sometimes desperately lazy outlets hire trolls, or trolls who are good at social media build enough of a following, that they become a headache for us, spreading hate or falsehoods. Because having them repeated on our site can directly harm us, if you're on the message board you should be aware that posting something from them could get you banned. They are:

  • SirYacht/Chat Sports/James Yoder - Fake news merchant who likes to make up plausible rumors or report non-sure things to get a false scoop.
  • Any local Spartan media when they talk about Michigan. Unless they're yelling "MAKE PLAYS!"
  • Pete Finebaum: FoxNews for SEC fans. Occasionally useful to them but the only times he's intersecting with us is when he's carrying Saban's water.
  • Rainer Sabin: Finebaum wannabe hired by the Freep to troll Michigan fans.
  • Steve Deace: Curiously well-funded white supremacist radio host who's got such a small Michigan following you can safely assume anyone posting positively about him is Deace and ban him again. Creates lots of burner accounts to promote himself. Recently booted by Maven for advocating lynching.
  • Barstool: People who took the freedom of young internet too seriously because really what they wanted to do the whole time was propagate bad ideas.

Don't sweat it. People are actually being fairly kind by just downvoting the original post, and not denigrating you personally (I'm laughing when I write this because really, the whole thing is silly, especially because you're so contrite). Most of us have been there at least once.
