maybe a Wisconsin COVID forfeit?
1-0
November 7th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
Maybe Rutger?
November 7th, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
I think this is the only answer. Maybe Penn State because they look kinda rough, but Clifford is at least as good as Lombardi so probably not.
Maybe Wisconsin too depending on who is out for that game coupled with their long layoff. But it's not like Michigan is a hard team to scout or prep for.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
UM has had 2 common opponents with Rutgers. Rutgers has fared better with both. I see a Rutgers W barring a significant turnaround in effort and execution.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
Maybe Maryland.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:44 PM ^
Maryland is currently curb stomping Penn State
November 7th, 2020 at 6:05 PM ^
Noooooo. I take it you haven't watched Maryland this season. I'd rank them the second least winnable game behind Ohio State. Tua's brother Taulia is the real deal and they have some weapons on offense. They will light Michigan's defense up.
November 7th, 2020 at 10:03 PM ^
Maryland Will put up 600 yards on Brown’s defense
November 7th, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
They'll beat Rutgers barring a bunch of turnovers, lose the rest. Psu looks pretty bad so maybe a close loss.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
PSU is worse than Michigan. Clifford looks worse than Milton.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:18 PM ^
They aren't worse than michigan I assure you. They played a tight game against indiana michigan got stomped. Michigan is bad this year.
November 7th, 2020 at 8:19 PM ^
Wow is this dumb. PSU was a kneel down away from beating Indiana and outgained them by around 200 yards. Michigan did not do those things.
November 7th, 2020 at 8:30 PM ^
Doesnt matter. Our defense and secondary has made two qbs look like Heisman candidates . Why would we think this wouldnt continue ?
November 7th, 2020 at 9:14 PM ^
Nope. They outplayed Indiana in an OT loss and lost to OSU by 2 TDs. Michigan will fare far worse against common opponents and will lose when they play Penn St.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
COVID? They seem to do pretty well avoiding that
November 7th, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
Have we played MSU yet? They look pretty terrible
November 7th, 2020 at 6:29 PM ^
Yeah, they suck. We'll probably be, like, a 3-touchdown favorite when we play them!
November 7th, 2020 at 10:08 PM ^
Yeah, Harbaugh is such a good coach and we never lose as underdogs. That’s why we pay him $7.5M a year!
November 7th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
Rutgers should be an expected win, but no guarantee sadly.
At this point Maryland and PSU are tossups, so let’s say they beat 1 and lose the other. WI and OSU likely losses.
2-3 seems like the expectation at this point. Pretty sad even considering all that was replaced on the roster.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
If we played Rutgers today we would've lost
November 7th, 2020 at 7:10 PM ^
Maryland doesn't look like a toss up. They lit up PSU Michigan's defense looks terrible - at least as bad as PSU.
November 7th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
Maryland barely beat Minnesota...you know, the team Michigan scorched in week 1. That game still happened, everyone, though I get why it doesn’t feel like it.
I’m not fully convinced of Maryland yet, but surely I wouldn’t favor Michigan at this point.
November 7th, 2020 at 11:33 PM ^
Maryland is getting better. Michigan is getting worse. Michigan minus Mayfield, Hayes, and Hutchinson might not beat Minnesota.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
Maryland and Penn State are going to kick the shit out of this team. Penn State may be bad but we’re really bad.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:05 PM ^
Penn State is worse than Michigan.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:12 PM ^
Michigan is pretty bad and Penn State isn't as bad as they seem. Only lost by 1 to Indiana and only 38-25 to Ohio State. Maryland is pretty good this season.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
Maryland was destroyed in game one. Who knows how good they are?
November 7th, 2020 at 8:38 PM ^
And Michigan looked great in game 1 but I'm pretty sure we have a good read on what kind of team they are now.
I've watched some chunks of their last two games and Maryland's offense has come to life as Taulia has gotten more comfortable. Since his bad week 1, he's gone 44/61 for 676 yds, 6 TD and an INT. They have an RB Funk that's averaging 9.5 yds a carry and a few WRs that will give Michigan's DBs issues.
They've got a legit offense that Michigan hasn't shown any ability to handle whatsoever.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
Noooooooooobody!
November 7th, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
They probably beat Rutgers, and who the hell knows what's up with PSU so maybe that's one of those "both teams suck but UM wins at home" type of games.
But yeah, not a ton of wins left on the schedule.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
November 7th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
With this coaching staff? Nobody!
November 7th, 2020 at 5:42 PM ^
4-1 to finish is doable. Wisconsin is a Covid mess, Rutgers stinks, PSU is a mess, Maryland is definitely winnable, and OSU is more of the same. So 4-1 can be done.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Can I have some of the shrooms you’re on?
November 7th, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
All of you people saying Maryland is winnable haven't spent a second watching Maryland this season.
Tua's brother Taulia had a rough 1st game vs NW, but was 26/35 for 394 and 3 TDs vs Minnesota and is currently 17/23 for 273 and 3 TDs vs Penn State.
The Terps are rolling.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:25 PM ^
The only good team in that sample is somehow Northwestern, and they trashed him. Maryland is boom or bust and they always bust against us
November 7th, 2020 at 6:27 PM ^
November 7th, 2020 at 6:41 PM ^
Yeah, a lot of our fans tend to go by a school's recent football history and not by what's going on in a particular season. I mean, Michigan looks like they could lose to any remaining team on their schedule.
Yes, even Rutgers this season. You don't go by Rutgers' recent football history.
November 7th, 2020 at 8:45 PM ^
They have weapons on offense and a QB that is getting better every week. Michigan has a defense that can't generate pressure, can't stop the run, and can't cover anyone.
They've shown competence and fight the last two games -- Michigan has shown the opposite.
I'd trust them a whole hell of a lot more than I would Michigan at this point.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:23 PM ^
Obviously the delusion is still out there.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:24 PM ^
I really have to hand it to you for positive thinking. Anyone who could watch the last two weeks and then predict that we will finish 4-1 is a real Michigan man. Me? I predict 2-6. People watch film. It is almost impossible not to score 30 points on us.
November 7th, 2020 at 5:48 PM ^
Uh, penn state maybe? Shit, they’re getting their doors blown off by Maryland.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
Well we don't play ourselves, so I say nobody.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:54 PM ^
I think we can forget this season. The bigger question is what is the future of Michigan football? Change coaches and keep the same philosophy, i.e. we will not compromise the integrity of this great university just for football. If the conference wants to go the route of the SEC we will become independent or join the Ivies. OSU is an academic second tier university and we will not be influenced by second rate academics. Or, we will look closely at what OSU and the SEC schools do and we will match every shady behavior they practice even if many of them don’t pass the legal tests. The future of Michigan is to be the best athletic and academic institution in the conference and we will do whatever it takes to achieve those goals. And we will apologize to no one.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:13 PM ^
Thankfully we are the better school. I’d be depressed if OSU beat us in football and as a school.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:33 PM ^
You’re supposed to save the academic integrity excuse for the osu loss. It doesn’t work as well after getting beat by MSU and IU.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:57 PM ^
I guess it depends on whether we improve. Brown mostly seemed to give up on man coverage after getting torched in the first quarter, so maybe we'll practice zone for the next two weeks (we get a bye thanks to COVID). There's room for growth on offense as our young receivers and Milton develop. Will we be great? No, but we can be better than we are now. Winnable games:
Penn State - They look awful too
Maryland - Extremely sporadic
Rutgers - Is Rutgers
I'm not saying we will win those games, but they're winnable.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:57 PM ^
Could be just Rutger but even that is not a given now. Its quite a mess!
