Rayshaun Benny announcing today @ 3:00
November 9th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
He ain’t comin’
November 9th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
MSU, UM, and PSU look meh, so we have a chance!
November 9th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
Mel Tucker won't be fired/quit within the next three years so that's why it would stay with MSU.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:28 PM ^
Yep, Mel has zero track record of leaving a job early... oh, wait!
November 9th, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
LOL, good point.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
Sure, but do you think someone will overpay him like MSU did? Good luck with that.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
Looks like he will sign with Arkansas since whoever won last is his core determining factor.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
My money is on Iowa in a twist ending.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:14 PM ^
I agree with this. I think he commits to Iowa but then flips to Liberty, not only on signing day, but as he is sitting at his table about to sign.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:16 PM ^
He was considering MSU before Michigan played MSU so he was clearly looking at them favorably already. Michigan just gave him a reason to fully jump on board with MSU. And them losing isn’t as big of a deal since it’s year 1 for Mel Tucker. Us losing in year 6 looks way worse
November 9th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
Yes, however to jump the balls to msu that fast showed he wasn't jumping on board here. Remember the interviews he was saying he wanted a place he could be successful on either side of the line if need be. That was his big point on Michigan, they sold him on pass rush dline and he would get top line coaching either side of the ball.
Told msu early on he wasn't interested.. they came on in the last month or so. It's not about relationships with him. Otherwise it's a Michigan then Penn st finish...
November 9th, 2020 at 1:16 PM ^
that's a poopoo platter of options but at least he gets a free ride. dude might want to write Wisconsin a letter to see if they'll have him.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
He'll get COVID just by sending that letter. Hard pass.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
Yet another DT blown, whether its one transferring, or just missing out, taking a bag, or the numerous SDE they try to bulk up.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Can we not do this today. Let us celebrate Moussa for a few more hours please!!
November 9th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
Benny is no longer my best friend
My new best friend is Moussa
November 9th, 2020 at 1:39 PM ^
Sparty won the toiletbowl. Thats enough for him.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
Why would he come here? So he can disappear like Mazi Smith?
November 9th, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
Mazi who???
November 9th, 2020 at 2:55 PM ^
Mazi Smith reported to camp last year at 350lbs. That's a Mazi problem.
November 9th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
Mazi was a large kid who played against terrible competition. Mazi was going to struggle at Michigan.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:32 PM ^
The terrible competition is incorrect.
November 9th, 2020 at 5:07 PM ^
As a Westsider from GR who also lived in Texas and San Diego, I disagree.
November 10th, 2020 at 8:37 AM ^
Michigan HS football is terrible.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:49 PM ^
He gone.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:49 PM ^
Is Arkansas the best football team on that list? Yeesh. I guess the "branding" being offered is to be the best player on a terrible team.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
I’ll make sure to be super busy at 3:00.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:01 PM ^
Bye bye Benny.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:07 PM ^
He's going to MSU but it's also why I never bought the "it's one game that swung him" argument.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:16 PM ^
It never was one game that swung him. Msu got embarressed as did Penn st as did Michigan by msu and indiana... But look at the programs after him. All struggling with Dlineman.. hmmmmm
November 9th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Its not directly the result of the Sparty game. He didn't watch that game and go "alright that settles it". It's the reaction to it from alum/fans and the purgatory of knowing what Jim's contract status is.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
All of the programs recruiting him are struggling on the dline.... And I agree, he didn't watch the msu michigan game and think that settles it. However I do believe he was looking for reasons away from Michigan far more than looking to Michigan. Otherwise he would have committed before the season started.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
If I’m a recruit, it’s pretty easy to get turned off by a school that has a large chunk of the fanbase calling for the job of the guy recruiting me. Whether the coach deserves it or not, let’s not ignore the impact a Harbaugh hot seat has on recruiting
November 9th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
We're a basketball school now.
Go JH (that's Juwan Howard btw)!!
November 9th, 2020 at 3:21 PM ^
(Checks notes)
MSU has won the big ten three years in a row.
(Burns notes)
November 9th, 2020 at 7:23 PM ^
We’ve been a basketball school since we hired Mr. Beilein
November 9th, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
November 9th, 2020 at 3:05 PM ^
Indiana from out of nowhere!
November 9th, 2020 at 3:11 PM ^
MSU it is. Poop.
And it's pretty clear the game 2 weekends ago made a huge impact in his recruitment.
November 9th, 2020 at 3:24 PM ^
so he chose msu over michigan because they beat us by 3, between getting drubbed by Rutgers and Iowa.....
Makes perfect sense
November 9th, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
More likely has to do with the fan base very vocally calling for the job of the guy recruiting Benny to Michigan than us losing to MSU.
Can’t really sit here and call for Harbaugh to be fired every day and then be shocked when kids don’t commit to play for him.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:39 PM ^
i doubt recruits are influenced by the comments on MgoBlog, but maybe i'm wrong.
November 9th, 2020 at 7:15 PM ^
In case you didn't know, the fan base is bigger than mgoblog.
November 10th, 2020 at 5:12 AM ^
I don’t believe I said it was MGoBlog. I said it was the fan base. Have you managed to be on Facebook or Twitter lately? I wouldn’t blame you if you hadn’t, but people are calling for Harbaugh’s job on all social media outlets.
National and local media are railing on Harbaugh’s performance and his contract status as well. This kind of talk isn’t limited to MGoBlog. And it DEFINITELY isn’t being ignored by other coaching staffs that are recruiting the same players we are. It’s incredibly foolish to downplay the impact that this kind of narrative has on recruiting.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
If a guy looked at a 3-point loss by UM and immediately flipped to MSU (who have otherwise lost by a combined score of 87-34 to Iowa and Rutgers), he wasn't particularly inclined to go to UM.
November 9th, 2020 at 3:24 PM ^
Sparty with the win
November 9th, 2020 at 3:31 PM ^
Not to be that guy, but are we sure this isn't a grades thing?
November 9th, 2020 at 3:35 PM ^
Typical
November 9th, 2020 at 3:55 PM ^
Just curious. The game last week may have been the final nail in the coffin, but I can't believe that was the only reason he went there.
