Rashan Gary’s Contract

Submitted by Blueblood80 on May 4th, 2019 at 10:02 AM

Rashan has endured a whole lot of unnecessary b.s. through the past year or so.  I think it’s fair to say he can give a big eff you to all the haters (Including Chris Frey). I am totally overjoyed for him AND his mom.  Here is his contract summary:

Happy for him. He earned every penny and endured a lot of criticism. Some of it was fair, but a lot of it wasn’t.

Go get yourself the best financial advisor you can find, Rashan. Get that money invested and set you and your family up for life.

As for Chris "Targeting" Frey, he was pretty badass until he met up with one Devin Bush...

I don't understand this logic.

Of course he was going to be a first round pick and make a bunch of money. This contract doesn't change the fact that he was not that great here, which was the biggest concern for him going into the draft. Every draft analyst spoke about how his lack of production was a concern.

The criticisms of him are more than fair, and if that's too much for him, then he won't last in the damn NFL.

If everybody is talking about how he had a lack of production, that's because it's true. It's not some false narrative. I do not understand the people that can't accept this.

You're allowed to be a huge Rashan Gary fan, root for him to kill it in the NFL, be happy he is super rich now, AND point out his college production left something to be desired.

I hate how everything is either/or now. They aren't mutually exclusive

The extreme criticisms here speak to a surprising lack of empathy for a contributing player - let’s just move on.  I look forward to watching an NFL game and hearing “Rashan Gary - University of Michigan” during the introduction.

NFL teams average around 1000 plays per season. That means Rashan is making $4000 per defensive play, whether he's on or off the field.

And people are wondering why he couldn't risk that to play in a bowl game when he wasn't 100%?

Ya'll need to reevaluate your priorities.

Or better yet, you can have the fake ass "honor" or "loyalty"...take half your salary and let's see how you feel about it.

I don't care who you are...4 million a year or $40K a year...half that salary is a big fucking deal, that's a blow, no question.

Jake Butt should literally be collecting twice his paycheck. Maybe more. Nah fam, that ain't it. If I came from inner-city NJ, worked my entire life to get to the NFL (not to Michigan, but to the NFL)...I've gotta sit this one out if I'm not 100% and we're not playing for a championship. Hate all you want, I can pay someone to make you feel better.

frey is also likely on a cfl minimum deal of around 54k ... Canadian. I'm a mid level software developer and I make more than double what you make, Maybe shut the fuck up

AND he owns his own agency. That 10% he saved is WAY more than a full salary and benefits for most of the haters! (and most of the defenders, like myself) #TheMichiganDifference

Here's a video actually showing Rashan Gary getting doubled, and some would even say tripled, including the maker of the video. I don't think it was intended to be a triple though. It looked like the 3rd blocker was trying to look around the corner for whoever showed up, and Rashan Gary stuck out his arm to stop him from turning the corner.

It would be interesting if someone had the time to make a video of all the games where Gary and Winovich both played to find out which got doubled more. I would bet it was Chase Winovich.

That's not even a true triple team. The play has 3 OL pulling to the strong side. Gary did his job which set the edge and prevent the OL from getting out to the perimeter to block additional defensive player. Gary pushed upfield which forced the pulling to block him.

That's a nice takedown by the OL and shoudn't be any penalties as a result. Let's just stop with the triple team because it's a myth perpetuated by Michigan fans. Rashan is often single blocked but sometimes get double teamed. He's great against the run but the criticism is his lack of pass rush. He often has no plan when it comes to it. If he gets stonewalled with his first move, he often get stuck in a block.
