Question for recruiting insiders
I don't think this has been mentioned but I have a question for any of the recruiting insiders (TomVH, DG Destroys, etc.) about a possible recruit. I have heard a rumor that Brady Hoke and Co. may be recruiting Boston College QB commit Christian Suntrup. Is there any legitimacy behind that?

of all the QBs we are recruiting, Sam Webb spoke of only Suntrup as a main target. That could obviously change of course.

I think we spoke with him, maybe even offered him, but he seems fully committed to BC.

What about getting a DT in this class like Cooper or Heyward?
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:13 PM ^
DT? What are those?
Not looking good for either one of those guys....

DT=Defensive Tackle

It's too late for Cooper, and Heyward wants to stay on the west coast.

What has been said of Willingham over last 24 hrs?? Any reaction from visit or contact with any of the insiders?

At what point do we just accept that obtaining a quality DT or QB in this class might not happen? I think we have to take a body at QB no matter what but could and should wait to fill the DT need until next recruiting class.

Just saying..

Martin, Campbell, Washington?, Ash, Talbott, Rock (RS).
Am I missing anyone on scholarship? Will that be enough?

Not at all and we certainly need a DT or two in this class without a doubt. Let me word my question a little better. Despite our glaring need at these two positions, at what point does the caliber of the recruit that we could get become so low that we are better off banking it for 2012 when higher quality will be available.

He might move back to DT where he played in 2009. I personally think he played better at DT that year than he did this year at DE.

RVB at Dt would be great and I believe I heard this would be a likely scenario. However, RVB and Martin are in the same class. After them we have Campbell, Talbot and Ash. Pretty thin there which is what prompted my questions to begin with. We went after a lot of DE, DB and LB help but nothing at DT.

Are we targeting any QB? I've read here that Cardale is having academic issues and most probably wouldn't get in. Any chance of getting someone else? Too bad about Cardale, he would've been a good pick up.

forget a qb and a dt. Next year looks like a great year in the midwest. save some scholarships for next year. I hope they dont fill up the class just to fill it up.

That we will sign more recruits including a DT.
I predict that W. Campbell will become a force on the DL
Hellfire will be visited upon MSU,OSU,PSU.

So we've got 14 commits.
We're in it for at least 8 more:
Rawls, Bryant, Raven, McClure, Willingham, Clark, Darian Cooper, and maybe Jake Fisher (but we'll have to see), plus we're still on the lookout for a QB.
What does the rest of this look like, in terms of staying under the scholarship cap? Do we give Mike Williams a medical hardship scholarship? If this is up somewhere already, a link would suffice - but I'd love a little clarification.

What makes you so sure we get Raven and Cooper? I hope you're right, but just sayin.
January 23rd, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
Not sure in any way, shape, or form. I just know Michigan is in the conversation for both players, and was asking what the overall picture looked like.

Hope this helps.

Fisher is part of the 14. Cooper is not an option, from what is being said above. Not sure we need Raven and McClure besides I think we have a better shot at McClure anyway. I'm thinking we have a decent shot at Barnett as well for next weekend.

He is not an interior dlineman at all in his time here. Possibility he could excell as a sde, but as a interior dt, only on pass rush downs.....
January 23rd, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
his best year at Michigan came as a DT. Hes 290 right now, right about average weight for a DT.
