I've never scalped tickets to anything, but there are always guys around with 'Need Tickets' signs. The secret is that they don't actually need tickets, they're selling them....

We always scalp tickets when we go to games and have no problem finding any. I would suggest bringing a seating chart so you know for sure where your tickets are.
EDIT: Went to the ND game in 2005 and we payed $150 a piece. I'm sure you can probably expect a price around there.

Since it is Michigan vs Notre Dame, and there seems to be a fair amount of hype for this game I would think you can expect to pay 175 to 200, quite possibly even more, but I don’t know I have never scalped tickets before.

Hang out at the bar. Sometimes, the bartenders will actually announce in a loud voice that someone needs a ticket. This is often related to how well you tip for your 22-ounce draft.
Caveat emptor: the only time I ever got shut out of getting into a game in twenty years of trying two or three times a year was an ND game. Their fans drive the prices up. That's why getting tix at CUBS AC from someone who hasn't talked to the "sclaper mafia" yet is a good strategy.
Also, it is infinitely easier to get one ticket than it is to get two or more next to each other.
Hope this helps.

I see you mention this all the time, and people always seem to just blow it off. However, I know its a very good idea. I've used the same method. One year I used to live over in the Woodbury Gardens area, and if one of our friends didn't have tickets we would just cut through to Cubs and snag a few really quickly. I don't know if it is the parking lot or what, but there always seems to be a hidden ticket market there.

There won't be as many tickets available this week as say next.
So bring your wallet and expect to pay somewhere between $100 and $200.

ND tickets are the hardest to find as in a typical year (such as this) both teams are undefeated and the game matters, particularly for ND.
In 2003, I heard people offering to buy tickets for $400 each, and were getting no interest. (This as around the intersection of Stadium and Main.)
One of the better spots to find folks dumping tickets are along Hoover, near the train tracks.
Also, Jerry at Coach and Four (barber shop on State St.) usually has tickets for sale, but he tends to charge a premium. But he'll probably give you a beer or two to go along with the tickets. and maybe a donut if he hasn't run out by then.

I can tell you as a student that students are selling to other students for 75$. You might be able to find one at the game for cheaper closer to the game time; however, be careful if you do buy a student ticket because you will have to validate it so student ID's are not required which is another like 25$.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:12 PM ^
Keep in mind that validation now depends on the opponent. For ND, it would be $40 for non-student use.

I made a lap around the stadium before the WMU game looking for a single ticket. Granted, it was only a half hour before gametime, but I couldn't find a single one. There were a ton of people looking for tickets, however. Luckily my buddy came through with an extra. Show up early and expect to fork over the cash
September 11th, 2009 at 1:08 PM ^
you don't buy a ticket that someone already has entered the stadium on and has already been scanned. I've heard of this going on.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:11 PM ^
There are lots of tickets available on facebook, they are student tickets going for $50 or less. You would have to pay $40 to get these validated. I have scalped tickets for numerous OSU/ND games and never had to pay significantly more than face. If you walk around the tailgates, I'd imagine you can find an M fan that has an extra that they're just looking to get rid of as opposed to someone trying to make a quick profit.
Stubhub has tickets available for about $100 so I can't imagine the price being higher than that closer to kickoff. There are ads on craigslist for tickets are $70.

tckets available both north, south and east of the corner at Main and Stadium. If he only needs a single ticket, it should not be hard to fine one relatively close to face value, maybe under or at it if willing to sit in end zone.

Listed on Craigs List, 5 different sets by the same guy:

Hope that helps.
