On TV they mentioned the one…

On TV they mentioned the one guy who hadn’t played was the backup long snapper.  Last punt was first possession of 2nd half, so not thinking to get him a snap at that point.  Maybe on the last TD he could’ve done the extra point?

Hey all,

I’m looking for 2…

Hey all,

I’m looking for 2 pair or 4 tickets together.  Please send me an email if you have any available for reasonable price.  Thanks.

They were a little

They were a little fortunate...if that's the play I'm thinking of, with 2:14 to go in the half, Michigan only had 10 guys out on defense. Which is inexcusable after the punt debacle, but even more so because it was the first play after a Michigan timeout.

Michigan defense had 10 men

Michigan defense had 10 men on the field for a second down play with 2:14 to go in the second quarter. After Michigan had called a time out. For those who haven't deleted the recorded game yet, take a look.

Looking for 4 tickets to Illinois basketball (2-24)

I'm not sure if the ticket spreadsheet is still being used or if anyone ever looks at it, but I posted on there as well.

I am looking for 4 tickets (can be 2 sets of 2) for the Michigan-Illinois basketball game on February 24.  If anyone is selling tickets at a reasonable price, let me know.

Dave Brandon Sighting?

Is that Dave Brandon giving Lloyd Carr a hug at the 10:44 mark in the New Math video?

Not the fan poll

I think Brian was referring to content on the link.   A few of the guys mention Michigan as potential losses this year.

Edit: Just re-read the post - I think he was talking about the fan poll.  Nevermind.

Ticket office email

This is the wording from the email I got a while back from the ticket office:

"A ticket for this game will be included in both the football and hockey student season ticket packages for $5 each.  Students may buy additional tickets to this event for $10 each when purchasing season tickets.  Students who purchase both a football and hockey season ticket will receive a total of two tickets to this event."

Sounds like the $5 was built into the price of the ticket packages, and if you got both hockey and football, you get two tickets.

I'm not sure how many people actually bought an extra one by mistake since I think they made it clear that one come with the season tickets.

Thanks

I appreciate the info. I'll just have to see what I can find when I get there.

Student tickets

I just bought a pair of tickets in the student section (Sec. 15) - Is it usually a free for all in the student section as far as seats go?

I'd like to sit where my tickets are but I can't get there super early to make sure that I get the seats.

Grizzly and ABC are great

Grizzly and ABC are great choices for beer and food.

Also, although its fairly new, I would recommend Jolly Pumpkin (Main St). The beer selection is great, although a little different style than a normal microbrew. The food is pretty good as well.

It'll probably be pretty busy - but check upstairs, its seat yourself up there and you might get lucky.

Important to distinguish

I know it doesn't tell the whole story, but Rodney has been really good in save situations. Some closers can't get focused in situations where they have big leads, and Rodney seems to have had trouble with that this year.

Save situations: 0-0, 2.72 ERA, BAA .214, OB/SLG/OPS .307/.344/.650, SO/9 8.7

Non-save situations: 2-4, 5.40 ERA, BAA .254, OB/SLG/OPS .360/.373/.733, SO/9 6.8

Stats from Baseball Reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?n1=rodnefe01&year=&…

You're also comparing Rodney to Joe Nathan, who has consistently been a good (check that, great) closer for 6 years now. If the Tigers make the playoffs and Rodney can be the same as he was in save situations during the season, they should be okay in those ball games.

Not an away game

He admitted that he thought they would catch him, but he forgot it was the MSU band. However, it was a home game for Notre Dame.

Edit: See theyellowdart's response

Great man

He gave everything he had to the game of baseball and the city of Detroit, while asking for nothing in return. I know the fans will come out to give him support tonight, and it should be great. He is already missed as a broadcaster, and will be missed once he is gone.

I won't be at the game, but I plan on giving him a standing ovation wherever I watch it from. Like Inge said, it will be a night that will not be forgotten. Thanks, Ernie.

Validation

Keep in mind that validation now depends on the opponent. For ND, it would be $40 for non-student use.

Coaches poll

Michigan grabbed 1 vote in the preseason Coaches poll.

I got U-Verse about 2 weeks ago

I am extremely happy with U-Verse. I love that when I am going to be at work late and miss the start of a game or show, I can log on and set my box to record from my computer.

The quality of everything has been great, and I wouldn't go back to Comcast. Comcast does have better OnDemand movies and stuff, but that all depends on what you want to watch.

Make sure you call and find out what they are willing to offer you. I got $250 cash back for signing up, and a friend of mine got 6 mos free internet. So if you call and tell them you are between ATT and Comcast, they try to set you up with some deals to make the switch worth it.

My first game

This was my first game as well. It couldn't have been a better one.

It was also my first time high fiving and hugging complete strangers once Hayes made the catch.

World Series

At least they got them back in '35 and '45.

Huge Fan of "The Woodson"

I like it a lot, especially since it is simple. I'm not sure that a winged helmet would help or not (it might look great), but I like the idea that the simpler the better.

I think that people will know whats going on without more detail. If they don't, (to steal a line from Zirbel) those people aren't true Michigan fans.

Quite frankly

I wanted to see a blue duck.

Missed the October games

You're right. I was checking on Tigers.com and didn't click over to October. Good call on the correction. Thanks.

The last 7 at home are nice, especially if they can get the rotation so that Verlander and Jackson each start 2 of those. Might be difficult to do, but you have to do what it takes to make the playoffs.

Last two weeks will be interesting

Looking at the schedule, the last two weeks will be huge.

DET - 9 of last 12 games vs CWS and MIN (6 on the road)

CWS - 6 of last 9 vs DET and MIN

MIN - 9 of last 12 vs CWS and DET

I think the Tigers need to play better on the road if they want to take the division. I'm hoping they can do that, and I think they will, and the AL Central will finish how it stands.

Just listened to them win it in the bottom of the 9th. Go Tigers!

You are right, there are too

You are right, there are too many different scenarios to think about with this play. Speed of the baserunners, instincts of baserunners, ability of the hitter to put the ball in play (w/o hitting into a DP w/ one out), the quality of catcher and middle infielders on defense. Not to mention the inning, score, and number of outs.

I agree that this play should remain in LL.

You make good points, and this discussion obviously shows why there are so many different coaching strategies out there.

I understand your argument,

I understand your argument, but I still believe that play to be best with 1 out. In that case, if they play fails and the runner is thrown out at home, you still get a runner in scoring position with two down. Whereas with two outs, the inning would be over. Also, if the runner is tagged out at 2nd, and the runner on third has no chance to score, he still is at third, again with the inning continuing.

Since the chance that play actually works is very low (especially in the Majors), with two outs you run a high chance of running yourself out of the inning. Instead, you allow your batter to make something happen.

Not a set play

With two outs in the eighth, I don't think you take that chance to try such a high risk play, especially since the baserunning has been bad.

However, don't forget the great baserunning play that Raburn made when he tagged to third on Huff's fly ball, making it all possible.

Agreed

I would like something simple, such as BARWIS HELL.

But not all of the time

My promo was just up a couple weeks ago, so I called to tell them I wanted to switch to ATT unless I could get an extension of the promotional rate. Instead of Comcast giving me another promo, they tried to get me to sign up for the HD cable package (I don't have an HDTV) and phone service for even more money.

So, I switched to ATT - better cable package than I had with Comcast and they gave me $250 back for signing up online.

For some...

...that's why they play defense.

It's nice to see video of practice up so soon. How is annarbor.com's coverage of football going to be compared to Ann Arbor News? Any thoughts on it so far?
