QB Coach Ben McDaniels

Saw the Shaun Nua post go up but we left off McDaniels unless I missed something. Not that much to reveal here per usual with pressers.

Summary:

Shea Patterson started camp as hoped - hit the ground running from spring. He's doing a great job of staying "clean" mentally - thought processes, anticipation, seeing the defense well. Doing everything he's asked of.

Shea sets a good example for the other guys as he's eager to follow coaching and succeeding, so the other guys can see that and follow suit with all the stuff the coaches throw at them.

QB room is a talented, a lot of similarities amongst the players skillset wise, and they fit the system Gattis wants to run well.

Adaption process for the QBs was basically just going full speed ahead with the install, and they've done well with that.

In the summer the QBs were focused and putting in good work following spring ball. Came in to camp better than they were in spring, which is he what he hoped for.

All the QBs like the room, contribute to the room, challenge each other.

Dylan has done a good job of executing, had a good spring, but he wouldn't really comment more on when and how he would be used in addition to Shea.

He sees Gattis as a great coach - intense, passion, very direct and specific in coaching the kids, impressive in coaching the other coaches and players with his system.

As an analyst last year, he didn't have much interaction with the QBs directly outside of personal connections. Mainly worked with receivers.

Shea is very comfortable with the system. He's playing at a high level within the system.

Putting the defense in conflict with RPOs is great for the QBs - ability to throw to some open players is clear. Goal is to get ball out efficiently and fast in RPO game.

Jim still "around" with the QBs and McDaniels tries to encourage him to get involved.

Thanks for the fantastic summary!  Too many people let the title do the work, without leaving any summary whatsoever.  That's lazy, especially when the title is crap (like a lot of them).  But with your summary, I don't have the need to watch a football related video at work - so thank you for a job well done!

Seems like he’s meshed real well with Harbaugh...(not quite as flamboyant as his older brother Josh). Though a few years younger, he does he not appear older than Josh?

At any rate I think we have a great cast surrounding our QBs (all positions for that matter). I think it only gets better from here on out.
