I have seen this statement made before. Why would Meyer go to ND? Is ND that big a job than OSU?
September 24th, 2016 at 7:43 PM ^
No way. And you can't recruit freely like you can at Ohio State. Yet the delusional ND homers expect you to win like Ohio State. That job is poison.
Never take a coaching job where the expectations of 30 years ago exceed the reality of today . . . ND, Penn State, Nebraska, etc.
September 24th, 2016 at 10:05 PM ^
Nick Saban disagrees.
September 25th, 2016 at 12:36 AM ^
On top of that, he acts like that doesn't describe Michigan in the decade that preceded Harbaugh.
September 24th, 2016 at 6:59 PM ^
Kelly will be fired after this season and Meyer will take over. Make fun of me all you want, but it will happen.
September 24th, 2016 at 7:00 PM ^
Urban is not going to go to a school whose academics entrance standards hinder his recruitment like Notre Dame does.
September 24th, 2016 at 7:12 PM ^
I don't think it'll happen but it is a non-zero probability. He has said it's his dream job

he will if they write a big enough check.
September 24th, 2016 at 7:34 PM ^
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Urbz use the situation to get himself a big raise.
September 24th, 2016 at 8:55 PM ^
And that...
September 24th, 2016 at 7:01 PM ^
Nope. Kelly is safe this year. They drop crap like this next year, he's seat will be flaming hot...
September 24th, 2016 at 7:17 PM ^
Why the hell would Meyer make a lateral move to a team in worse shape? OSU is a terminal job unless the NFL comes calling (which they won't after Chip Kelly)

An NFL job, really? Name an NFL job better than OSU...

Oakland is still in play

If he decides he wants to try his hand at the NFL, any team that has a viable franchise QB would be a better job.
September 24th, 2016 at 8:25 PM ^
Chip's flaws don't condemn all coaches. Meyer could succeed in the NFL if he wanted to, because he can adapt.
But based on what we know about him there's no way he'll do it. He's a college coach and the flexibility he has now is perfect for him.
September 24th, 2016 at 9:09 PM ^
could be a successful NFL coach. Recruiting is his strength. Saban failed in the NFL. So did Spurrier and many others. Harbaugh is a rare breed.
September 24th, 2016 at 9:47 PM ^
HARBAUGH not just a recruiter.
September 24th, 2016 at 8:37 PM ^
At least if Urban went to ND he would have many of the same type of players he uses.

The NFL doesn't have to "come calling" for a coach as successful as Meyer. Like Spurrier when he left Florida, all he'd have to do is resign, announce he's interested in the NFL and he'd have his pick of the majority of vacancies that year. If your franchise is struggling, you'd be happy to roll the dice on someone like Meyer.
September 24th, 2016 at 7:58 PM ^
with Harbaugh in the B1G, indy Notre Dame may look more and more like greener pastures to Meyer.
September 24th, 2016 at 9:04 PM ^
Greater than having a legit shot at a natl championship every year?
September 24th, 2016 at 8:25 PM ^
You keep saying this, but it remains completely wrong.
September 24th, 2016 at 9:07 PM ^
A prediction cannot be right or wrong, only more or less probable.
September 25th, 2016 at 7:13 AM ^
No, you said he will be fired. Not that it's probable. Also doubled down and said it will happen. It's all your fault if it doesn't happen. The universe will be waiting...
