I’ve been re-examining the landscape of Terrestrial radio and modern day Internet streaming and I’m curious to know what the family here has been listening to

I’ve decided to start a new podcast. Check out the pod with Dery and I

Will listen Dennis.  Hope you are doing well.

You were one of the only 97.1 hosts to stand up for Michigan when Valente spews his disingenuous crap.

I've been listening to a podcast called "Truth or Skepticism".  Just 2 smart dudes talking mostly about financial markets and politics without a right vs left narrative.

I just started listening to “Cleared Hot” and I find it very entertaining.  A former Navy Seal and wing suit jumper, Andy Stumpf, is the host and he interviews a variety of people but talks to a lot of former Seals and special ops guys.  Tons of great stories about training, sacrifice and service.

I've been listening to the History of Byzantium. It's still going but it started after Mike Duncan's History of Rome. I only started a few months ago though. He's not the greatest personality for a podcast. But it is really interesting with the rise of Islam. I was interested because the Byzantine Empire seems largely forgotten even though it was the dominant force in Europe for like 3 or 400 years after the fall of Rome.

I've been using the new Google Podcast app, which is by far the best podcast App I've ever used (especially now that they've added playlists).

Top Pods right now:

  • Family Secrets
  • Hardcore History (which finally uploaded a new episode after a year).
  • Bootleg Football (Done by Brett Kollmann, who has a terrific YouTube channel)
  • 2-For-1 Drafts
  • No Such Thing as a Fish
  • Weekly Planet
  • Words and Numbers

I loved the Google Podcast App before the playlist function was added. I listen to a lot of back log podcasts as filler. So I normally jump from an unfinished podcast to listen to the new episodes of my more fav pods, but doing so removes the unfinished podcast from the playlist. Idk, just annoying.

Mainly listen to:

  • Weekly Plant/Do Go On/Suggestible
  • Tested's Still Untitled
  • Bald Move TV Recap (Currently Westworld, but if you're catching up on shows that you've missed initially, GoT, Breaking Bad, Leftovers, etc.)
  • The Office Ladies, and Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
  • WTKA, MGoBlog, etc. for Michigan Pods

If anyone is interested, I recently released a 7 episode podcast, partially funded by National Geographic, called 'Voices of a Flyway'. My team and I spent 2.5 months on the road last spring, traveling from coastal Louisiana up to the boreal forests of northern Minnesota to document the connection to the land birds and humans share.

The project was motivated by witnessing years of general destruction of natural places, but also the general destruction of our relationships with each other and the ability to find common ground on important matters. The project looks at our relationship with the land in its many forms and how those relationships are strained because of human activity around the planet. A billion migratory birds guided our way up their ancient migratory flyway. We spend plenty of time discussing their beauty and struggle as well. That struggle is essentially our struggle as well.

Anyway, a lot of work went into it and I think the message is beneficial for whomever listens. You can find it on iTunes, Spotify, or pretty much anywhere else.

If you want to know more about the project, you can visit the project website. We have 6 immersive online story maps filled with photos and videos of the trip, as well as a ton more audio.
