Thanks for the great graphic. The tease is what was 1997 like? In my mind, the '97 Defense was the best ever. I only vaguely remember the '85 D. I remember doing a briefing for a "presentation" in a class and the '97 D lead the Nation in every category. Just unbelievable how good they were and how much fun to watch. |

| 1 year 36 weeks ago | These are the games that make lifelong fans... |
My elementary school daughter came downstairs to watch the second half with me while everyone else went upstairs to bed. She would ask, "is that good daddy?" and I would say "yes". She would ask, "is that bad daddy?" and I would say "yes". After V Smith took that brilliantly called screen to the house, we both jumped around and yelled at the top of our lungs. We woke the others up. Then ND went down the field and scored again. She didn't have to ask "is that bad?" She knew. I said we still have 30 seconds and Denard. Everyone knows Denard. After the long pass play to Gallon, my wife came downstairs as my daughter and I went crazy. When they took one shot in the endzone, she asked "is that bad daddy?"...and I rambled something until the play started...then Roundtree caught the winning TD. I looked at my daughter and said, "now do you see why I love this game, this team?" She smiled knowingly. She gets it now. She loved the band, she loved the rawk music, she loved the maize pom-poms, she loved Denard's smile, and she loved "The Michigan Experience" even if it was hundreds of miles away. |

| 1 year 37 weeks ago | I'll take Utah and SC (NTSC) straight up |
Utah will be too much for SC (YTSC) to handle, until SC has some offense not consisting of Barkley to Woods. SC (NTSC) is very talented and all the insiders down here are very excited about the DL. ECU mitigated the DL to some extent by quick release passes. SC will learn from game one and beat GA badly. Boise will lose value in their Week one win. |

I don't log in very often, but did to say "great job". As others have said, the music isn't appropriate for the little ones, but man the video sure is. If that was a HS recruit video... I am glad 16 plays for the good guys. GO BLUE! |

| 2 years 26 weeks ago | First team to 14 or 21 wins...sorta |
In all of UM's games this year the first team to 14 has won, except for UMass. Also, the first team to 21 has won in all UM games, except for Ill. Does it mean anything, not so much, but the UM Off better get off to a good start or it could be a long day Sat. |

| 2 years 28 weeks ago | I agree that this year will be interesting... |
I can "feel" my Dad getting a little more anxious about this year, and I love it. It is a long way off, but if we get off to a good start down there, it is going to be fun. |

| 2 years 28 weeks ago | OSU fans are starting to feel what is coming... |
I think that OSU fans are starting to feel what is coming from "that school up North". This is why the once light-hearted analysis has turned decidedly more defensive. My Dad is an OSU fan, and he mentioned yesterday that he thinks 2011 may be the year that UM finally gives OSU a real game (interpretation = worried about losing). He is paying particular attention to our offense. He was very interested in how we did against Ill, since OSU struggled for much of the game. |

| 2 years 31 weeks ago | Remember Preseason Expectations... |
I'd say we are right on track, but with a + to the upside on the O. In case you didn't read Brian's own preseason predictions, I suggest you go back in the next two weeks and re-acquaint yourself with reality. Here is an extract to jog your memory: "The offense will undergo Leap II: This Time It's Obvious, becoming legitimately scary to opponents across the league... Defense? Last year again with less confusion and very long stupid easy touchdowns, shredded by experienced, good quarterbacks (of which there are 4 or 5 on the schedule), considerably better against the run, slightly better overall, still prone to major breakdowns."
We won everything that was "Tossup" to "Win". I'll take it. the two losses were more painful than expected based on early season success and the TO and mistakes that led to those losses. I expect to win at least two of the next three. The last two will be tough. As for GERG. He gets a pass until he has more experienced players, and stability in the D coaches is more important than just about anything else, at least from my point of view, although recruiting is a close second. I expect that we end up with a pretty good D class. | 2 years 31 weeks ago | Curtis Grant #1 ILB, #9 Overall on Rivals??? |
No idea who it will be, but the current photo on the front of The Wolverine for the "Updated Hot Board: Linebackers" is Curtis Grant, who is the #1 ILB in the Country. He is also the #9 overall player in the Country. That would be nice to get him on campus. Sam also mentioned that if it went well that there was going to be a second visit. Whomever it is has been looking at the depth chart and thinking about playing time. |

| 2 years 33 weeks ago | I am curious to see how Opponents adjust their Off gameplans... |
Denard and Company are going to have a huge impact on the opposition's offensive game plan, and/or in-game adjustments. It will be interesting to see how the Big 10 teams adjust to getting behind 14-7 or 21-7 by the end of the 1Q (with little to no sign of slowing down UM's Off). So far Indiana and Notre Dame have been able to "keep up" with our scoring due to their ability to pass the ball. The question that I am most interested in seeing answered over the next two games is what do the "old school" thinking HC do when Denard and Company shred the Def gameplans and the offenses HAVE to keep up. Being able to pass the ball as a compliment to a good running game is much different than having the pressure of needing to pass and score to stay in the game. That decision will be made by the opposing coaching staffs and executed by QBs not necessarily suited for it...think Iowa's Offense against AZ. The next two games, win or lose, will tell us a lot about what to expect for the rest of the season. Because of Denard and the offensive scheme, I am less worried about Wisconsin and MSU running games. UI was perfectly suited to take advantage of this situation, but no one else in the Big 10 seems to be. |

| 3 years 29 weeks ago | D-Rob in the slot |
I would settle for a hand full of plays with D-Rob in the slot. The first play - get him the ball! I recognize he came to UM to be a QB and we need QBs for this year and next, but man I want to see him get the ball in space a few times per game. If the coaches wait to do this until OSU, I'm okay with that. EDIT: D-Rob on a post pattern would be nice to see, even if it was a decoy. |

| 3 years 36 weeks ago | D-Rob's Future Position |
I think he will succeed wherever he decides to play. The idea of a two-headed QB beast(s) is pretty cool, and given RR ability to craft the O based on the talents, the sky is the limit. However, I can also see him looking at the depth at CB going forward and switch to that side of the ball. If I remember correctly, Florida wanted him as an ATH/CB. I think it would be AWESOME to see his speed on that side of the ball, paired with CB Turner, for a serious shut-down secondary. In addition, he could play some on O ala Charles "Heisman Trophy Winner" Woodson. That is all. |
