The Photoshop that wasn't
Alright, I was thinking about doing a photoshop this evening, but I have decided against it. I am very depressed, because the idea was excellent, but I think it's for the best.
I was going to place our very own Donkey Rider, Taylor Lewan, atop this Donkey.
But then I thought... lets not make Jesus angry the day before a game. So no go. Maybe on Monday or something.
September 24th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
Or how about this donkey?
Since Lewan makes the donkeys look depressed too.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
Because I'm sure that this is the demeanor of the opposing defensive players. Eeeeeeeyyyyyoooooorrrrreeeee :(:(:(:(
September 24th, 2010 at 4:45 PM ^
Exactly my point. After Lewan blocks them down the entire field or pancakes them in front of national tv, the donkey has this depressed look on his face and is about to bust out in tears. Love it.
September 24th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
I submit that by posting your intentions you have already angered whoever might be angered by this so you might as well follow through . . .
(I write this because I'd like to see the end result and am not one who would be insulted).
September 24th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
But I'd hate to have Jesus hit Lewan with a Holy Headache or something.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
You could always use this photo instead. Not as good though.
(P.S. I just spent 5 minutes looking for this online - if that isn't proof that I am avoiding doing anything productive here at work today then I've got nothing).
September 24th, 2010 at 4:16 PM ^
Here's another. (Why are there photos of a couple riding donkeys on the internet? I don't think Al Gore had this in mind at all!)
September 24th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
Although, I think Jesus would be psyched to be analogous to Taylor Lewan.
September 24th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
and he's dead now. I don't think he'll care.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Religious debate on this board = Not acceptable. Seriously.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
Srsly.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
Right, because there was any other direction this thread could have gone...
September 24th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
simply referencing Jesus qualifies as any sort of religious commentary.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
You posted a picture of the triumphal entry and how you were planning to photoshop Taylor Lewan in. I'm not offended, but where did you think this thread was going to go, a meaningful discussion of the offensive line? Some sort of funny, time-wasting thread with hilarious comments, none of which reference religion?
September 24th, 2010 at 4:25 PM ^
religion.
What I DIDN'T expect was for somebody to make commentary. I didn't expect anyone to say, "Jesus is Dead" or "Jesus is the Savior". We don't need that. It's irrelevant. Everybody knows who Jesus is supposed to be, and everybody has their own take on that. Even the most adamant atheist can laugh and understand the concept that Jesus is all powerful, whether they believe it or not.
It doesn't need to be discussed.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:30 PM ^
You honestly think that this is something that wouldn't offend some people, or have a much higher than average chance of turning into religious discussion? The "Jesus is dead" comment is just as much of a joke as your original post.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:35 PM ^
I think there's a distinct difference between referencing religion, even in a humorous way - which the OP did....
and making inflamatory comments about religion - which ipkarma did.
One does not necessarily lead to the other, nor should religiously related humor or parody be equated with inciting religious debate.
Religious symbols, esp. those of the Judeo-Christian variety, are a part of our common cultural heritage. And items from our common cultural heritage are, in turn, what humor and parody are based on. Thus religion is fair game for humor/parody IMO and religiously related humor need not result in debate or inflammatory comments. The former is always fair game, IMO, the latter should be off-limits on this board.
Just my $0.02.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:39 PM ^
I wholeheartedly agree in general, I just think the board would benefit from erring as far as possible on the side of avoiding that type of humor since there's always bound to be someone that either takes it too far or takes offense.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:46 PM ^
I'd second the err on the side of caution argument. While I don't think the OP begged for the debate to begin, he did open the door.
I'd also suggest never mentioning a politician of any kind on this board, no matter how off hand, for the same reason.
This might be slight hyperbole.

mgoholywar!
WAIT! I'll go get the popcorn!

I feel partially to blame for IPKarma's faux pas. The week of the ND game someone posted a thread about an "Incompletion Jesus" t-shirt design. IPKarma quipped (quite hillariously) "what happened to your shirt 'Jesus can't signal touchdown when his hands are nailed down'?". I saw the comment and laughed my ass off but, unprompted, he edited it to say "Jesus is a touchy subject, hats off to you". Like the little red devil that sits on everyone's shoulder I implored him to repost his original comment. He did and it earned him 25 points. I understand why politics and religion is forbidden on the board but funny is funny and he hit that one out of the park. He probably thought another Jesus joke would net him some more points but this one was weak. You gotta really knock it out of the park to get points from a Jesus joke:

as Touchdown Jesus, I see no harm following their lead.
Since the arms don't go straight up, and given the state of ND football, I'm thinking it should be referred to as "WTF? Jesus"

...the King of Kings can't be a good idea at any time, can it?
September 24th, 2010 at 4:14 PM ^
I don't see what any of this has to do with Aragorn.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:31 AM ^
Maybe we're not talking about the same guy, 'cause the Jesus I'm aware of is excellent comedy grist.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
Need some help here, fellas. I see a lot of newer posters coming on the board and asking questions or wanting to discuss something that's already in another thread, and the new guy gets absolutely roasted by the MGoCommunity.
At what MGoPoint threshold is one able to just start a waste of time thread like this one and have people join in rather than jumping down the guy's throat? I'm guessing it's somewhere around 5000 points?

September 24th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
when they stop posting random and irrelevant comments in completely unrelated threads?
September 24th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
If it's Michigan related, just search and make sure it hasn't been posted. Then post it. There is no point thresh hold. There's no secret cabal out to stop you. If you have a problem with a post like this meant for a laugh, then fine. But don't be a moron. I don't know how many points I have. Or you. I never look at it.
NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE POINTS.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:23 PM ^
It was a joke.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:28 PM ^
I get jokes!

Jesus kills a kitten! And we need to save our kittens for the loss! (we won't be undefeated forever we aren't BSU!
September 24th, 2010 at 4:39 PM ^
No disrespect intended, but how can a thread that prompts several readers to perform online research about a subject (donkeys) they know nothing about be considered a waste of time?
September 24th, 2010 at 4:19 PM ^
is totally fun!
someone photoshop this one so the painting of the body on top of the donkey looks like a Michigan football player, conveniently with Lewan's number...
September 24th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
I'm thinking this one could work well
September 24th, 2010 at 4:37 PM ^
You know what this thread needs? More google images of people riding donkeys.
/wrists.
September 24th, 2010 at 4:48 PM ^
Hi guys. What's going on in here?
September 24th, 2010 at 4:44 PM ^
...especially the type of pancakes that Lewan serves up. He would approve of the photoshop.
September 24th, 2010 at 5:07 PM ^
I say go for it. Jesus/God has a sense of humor. He created OSU fans, didn't he?
September 24th, 2010 at 5:10 PM ^
good one! And I bet it's one experiment that God acknowledges went horribly wrong.
September 24th, 2010 at 5:03 PM ^
Oh wait. You said donkey? My bad.
September 24th, 2010 at 5:10 PM ^
...this donkey
September 24th, 2010 at 5:19 PM ^
We don't want to scare Taylor away!!
September 24th, 2010 at 5:37 PM ^
Since this thread seems to be devoted to relevant content, I wonder what the team's having for dinner tonight? I wonder if it's served buffet-style. Do you think they save each other seats? I wonder if there's a "cool guy" table. I wonder if everyone wants Denard to sit with them. Does everyone have seconds? I sat with Taylor Lewan and Patrick Omameh at the Women's Football Academy lunch, and they both had two plates of food each.
Do you think they have cookies for dessert? Maybe they bring in some big ice cream creations from Stucchi's, and cookies. I wonder if anyone has seconds on dessert. Probably big Will. He probably has five cookies, and a couple of brownies, and some apple crumble. That seems about right.
September 24th, 2010 at 6:26 PM ^
This is actually more interesting than the original post. You'll have to try harder than this to parody "hey, here's something I was going to photoshop but didn't." It's really pretty sublime.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
C'mon, have some fun! And like they say, if you don't like it, don't read it.
