Well I thought for sure they'd use them for a big game against MTSU, not a meaningless game against ND, OSU, or MSU. How do you know this wasn't left up all year? Seems more than likely that would be the case but I'll defer to the guy with a UM diary. Don't you remember the tackling dummies with the block O on them? This is nothing new.

here's a video of Ben Bredeson saying they have the decals for each team they play (@ 1:58).  OSU was in fact on the schedule last year so it is safe to assume the decal was up for that week and possibly others.

Jim also gave out the co-big ten champ shirts to the team, surely as a reminder that they were destroyed in The Game last year.

the point is the last 3 tenures have done stuff like this and it appears to not make much of a difference.  maybe this is the year.

Stickers are fine but we need to take this to an entirely different level like Ohio State does.

For instance, I've heard from friends in Columbus that Urban Meyer actually keeps a live wolverine in a cage in his backyard.

Once a year in November he takes it out and beats the shit out of it for old times sake.

2015: Durkin seeing into the future and doing a Don Brown impression. Let's run the same defense every play. good idea!
2016: Noodle Arm Speight and his turnovers plus ref fuckery. Lean towards awful QB play as the culprit and the terrible tackling on 3rd down prior to JT being short.
2017: thanks, John!
2018: Don Brown got his own switch and Urban/Day whipped him with it.

yuck.

I think that the clocks are great, but it might be a bit overwhelming to see 3000+ days on there. The pads focus on immediacy and violence, which may be a more productive mindset. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. But having the year-long, program-wide focus on OSU seems like a step we need to take. I believe that this kind of visible focus is important for the players and the coaches, whether it is demonstrated via clocks, pads, dartboards, etc.

I 100% without-a-doubt hate Michigan State more than I do Ohio State. As long as we beat Sparty (prefer pummel) I’ll take it, beating Ohio st just feels like a pipe dream at this point.

That's such a low bar though.  We must aim higher and expect better. MSU isn't even the Florida of the big ten.  That's more like Wisconsin. Unfortunately ohio state (due to our  7 year hiatus) has been the Alabama of the conference for 12 - 15 years. Henne and Hart teams were good enough to win 3 of 4 off those and got none.  This must change lest we be content with sweet 16 level, maybe luck into a final four happiness.

No game is more important than the Ohio State game. Every second, every minute, every hour, and so on should be dedicated towards defeating them. In one capacity or another.

This is fine. The handwringing over this kind of thing is just ridiculous though. If they do it and they lose a different game, it's because they overlooked OSU. If they don't do it and they lose to OSU, it's because they weren't focused enough. And yet, through various iterations of OSU stickers/tackling dummies/clocks/whatever it usually just comes down to who the better team is.
