Where did he do this at ?? If at UM and timed by UM people then it means nothing.. It's like asking his mother if he is cute....

around.

In any case, he's one fast SAM LB and I cannot wait to see him combine that speed (confirmed or not) with Don Brown's D (blitzes or not).

I confess I'd be surprised if Peppers were faster than Denard.  But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Please get here soon, football season . . . .

I mean he's really only an LB in name. He is a freak athlete, but this isn't an LB at all in the traditional sense. When he's at the combine, he'll be working out with DBs I think. Eric Berry still is probably the best NFL comparison I can think of.

Peppers seems like he is about as close to a utility player, if you will, as you might be able to get in football merely because you can play him in several places, although the comparison ends about there. Of course, he will probably be a couple tiers above, say, the Scott Sheldons and Shane Halters of the world (actual utility players in the MLB, of course, although those two once played all nine positions in a game) while he's doing this in football.

I like monocle smile, but Tony the Tiger quickly popped up in my head when reading his post.

Also, a hat tip to LSA. Gotta love the Shane "I could be an all star shortstop" Halter reference. I mean, if I had a nickel every time he was brought up on this blog, I think I'd have a nickel!

I imagine NFL people are looking at him as a hybrid space player. But since that nomenclature doesn't fit into the current standard football lexicon, whoever will slap either a 'lb' or 'DB' label on him, but he's such a freak combined with modern defenses that he'll be used uniquely.

Can't believe some here had the nerve to tell me a while back that he's not the fastest guy on the team...

Even though it doesn't say I'm assuming it's electronic.

For comparison's sake Denard ran 4.43 at the NFL combine...

See, you didn't clarify that you meant Peppers was faster than an injured Chesson after both had been on campus for 3 years. We didn't know you could time travel and tell us how fast Peppers would be in the future compared to current day Chesson

But I just wanted to say +1 to you fine sir for posting this. What a memory. What a game.
And I have to say, that is probably in the top 5 games I attended in my life. It wasn't the most meaningful based on end of year results, but that game was great. I will never forget that defense chant at the end of the game that began slowly in the south end zone and soon was picked up by the whole stadium. Watching this cut brought it all back. Including the goose bumps.
So thank you DomIngerson. Thank you.

Chesson is fast I'll give him that but it isn't apples to apples. He has a longer stride with longer legs and has to cover less ground. Love Chesson but there's no way in hell Chesson has the type of speed that Peppers has. Chesson couldn't replicate any of them Pepper's punt returns. He isn't in the same category of athlete. Peps is a freak yall!

"He has a longer stride with longer legs and has to cover less ground."

WTH does that even mean?  When Chesson runs a 40, he only has to cover 35 yds while everyone else is going 40 yds?  It doesn't matter one bit how long his legs are - they are both timed in covering 40 yds.  Long legs, short legs, Yak legs.  Doesn't matter...

Honestly think that was BS to increase Chesson's draft stock before he had a breakout year. If you rewatch Chesson's return last year, Jabrill is closing on him the last 30 yards or so after he makes a block
