Guys, this article actually mirrors a lot of the sentiment expressed on this website if read fully. Quotes like this one are all over the article:
"But sadly enough, if Rich Rodriguez is wrongfully fired after this season (and I mean wrongfully), it may be because of the whispers that haven't stopped since Justin Boren's supposed deterioration of "family values" in Coach Rod's camp. Bill Martin hears the whispers. So does President Mary Sue Coleman. And the media is doing a hell of a job at making them louder as of late. And that makes these rumblings worse and more dangerous than banter about just wins and losses."
I'm pretty sure that every point made in this article has already been made by Brian or another (reasonable) MGoPoster here.

Brian was the first person to compare the MSM's treatment of RR for Feagin to their virtually ignoring Dantonio's "treatment" of Winston. It's nice that mgoblog and Brian were ackowleged, and even better that Dantonio's free pass was revoked, but it would have been nicer if he had acknowleged Brian for making the comparison first.

If this halfwit dipshit Kartje had any fucking brains and actually was informed, he'd realize that Bill Martin, being as intimately close to RR's football operations as you can be without being on the staff, knows goddamn well that the reality is that RR has gone out of his way since the day he stepped onto campus to embrace the football family, especially with regard to former players. There is NO issue with "family values" with people who actually are close to the situation and have a fucking clue.

Welcome to 21st century American "journalism," whose goal is not to ferret out the truth, wherever it may be, and report it to the citizen readers, but to present both sides of an issue as though both are equally valid, regardless of reality. The idea that a reporter would take a forthright objective stand on what is truth and what is bullshit, and report it as such, is largely dead and gone. The current situation is actually a return to our long tradition of yellow journalism of good old WR Hearst and Joe Pulitzer, with the only goal being the selling of papers and advertising space, and you do that by stoking the fires of controversy.

It's a rough time for newspapers. Blogs have better, more focused content, and Craig Newmark has killed their classifieds, which used to be a major source of revenue, all by himself. I can't imagine printed newspapers existing in their current form for very much longer, other than as quaint curios in nursing homes.

They don't sell because they've alienated intelligent people. So what if blogs are far less costly to produce? If newspaper content were anything close to the quality of 50 years ago--in which entire presidential speeches would be published instead of mere snippets, for example, or in which intellectually stimulating language and discourse were present--there would be no problem. Thrive in a niche market; there's no shame in that.
They diluted the quality of their content to sell more papers. They tailored themselves to the lowest common denominator. Unfortunately, mainstream culture is a fickle mistress; sometimes when you chase after the herd it leads you off a cliff. The newspapers have been dead to the wise for a long, long time. So long and thanks for the firepit kindling.

While expressing doubts about Rodriguez over many a forum or website, or "blog" thingy, one thing retort that has always stopped me in my trax is "Who ya gonna get to replace him?"
The answer is you'd prolly have to take a chance on some nobody, or finally give in and take Brian Kelly. Expecially if you don't give Rodriguez 4-5 years. And this "family values" BS? What coach is going to want to come in if UM actually makes that some sort of hiring or resume requirement?
Really, if that "family values" thing actually becomes some sort of fixation for the next coach in the event that Rodriguez is canned early, ZOMG UM football should then be the first place where a woman is hired for coach. Maybe Martha Stewart. Hell, Schembechler Hall could be redecorated and be made ino a giant nursery all in one half-hour show.
