Outstanding Jim Harbaugh interview...back in the Bay Area
Just stumbled across this interview of Coach in his recent return to the SF bay area for a team reunion.
Love how comfortable he seems and you get a sense that he's still revered by the local media ten years after winning the conference championship and taking the Niners to the Super Bowl.
This one has a funny comment by Joe Montana on his interaction with Coach when he was recruiting his son...

This is the full interview...
Enjoy...

Its kind of funny that he's decked out in UM Gear and Khakis.

One of us! One of us!

That was clearly photoshopped. I've been informed by reliable posters that Jim went on the visit to look for an NFL job!

I know, it's just a joke on your part. But -1 anyway.

+1 to offset. Oakland is always in play, even if it's just down the road.

What if Oakland is Vegas?

What if Oakland is in all of us?

I cracked up when I saw that he was in his Michigan gear. I mean, doesn't he own any other clothing? But then I remembered that he doesn't like to waste time figuring out what to wear each day. He's such an oddball, but he's our oddball!

Imagery. Recruiting. A subtle message.
An amazingly successful NFL coach returns to the tenth reunion wearing the gear from his college team.
"I can get you here if you come to play for me now." Michigan a gateway to the pros. Never articulated but the message is clear.

Great interview and that story from Joe Montana sounds just like Jim. Thanks for sharing.

“It was THE time of my life, those 4 years”
I’m really not looking forward to another offseason of Harbaugh NFL rumors and chatter.

He was being polite. If your friends fill their conversations with NFL rumors and chatter every time someone is polite, you should get new friends.

I mean, I don't think he's going to say, "Hell on Earth, those four years...." with a San Francisco audience listening.

I live out here and I remember he had a definite distain for York jr, as all of us did, whenever Jr tried to put his imprint on anything “football”.
York then fired Jim, his best coach ever (Seifert was under Debartolo), and hired a yes man and complete idiot.

I have a couple Niner fan friends locally, and to a man they all follow and root for Michigan - despite having no connection to the team, university, or state - out of pure spite for Jed.

Harbaugh and the clothes / gear he was wearing?
Always be selling ... ABC - Always be closing.
There are comments about recruiting. Well, I believe there was a conversation with Jadyn Davis after Harbaugh and Weiss visited his high school last weekend, and Weiss went to Davis' game (I'm not sure if Harbaugh made the game, or - was on his way to San Francisco for the reunion festivities in this post).
The point here is - Davis was very interested in the Michigan offense and the NFL style aspects of it, which is part of the portfolio of what he would learn while in Ann Arbor and could apply to his future while making him more attractive to teams that play on Sunday.
A question - what other college teams run an offense with as many concepts that are used on Sundays?

People (i.e., me) are amazing at rationalizing.
I rationalize the MSU loss as a net gain b/c Tucker is locked into a contract at MSU, and I also rationalize Jim Harbaugh losing the superbowl as necessary for ensuring job security for John Harbaugh, which is great for UM.
