OT: World Series Open Thread
Well I know we're still sad about the Tigers not being in this series, but, it's a slow day and it's still the first game of the world series. They're in the bottom of the 1st and now the umps got themselves in trouble by calling Pedroia out in second and now calling it back, as it was clear it was safe... discuss?

They can't look at replay to change a call but they can get together and change it if another ump saw the play differently.

If this play is made a year later than there's obviously replay to change it but I don't think they can overturn a call like that.
That said they got the call right and I suppose that's all that should matter.

But Sparky Anderson was the first manager that I saw who would go up to each umpire to ask if they had a different view of a play in dispute (not related to balls/strikes). Only once did I see where that worked. The umpires still had to get together and discuss it before officially overruling the original call.

And ESPN in spanish have got Ozzie Guillen in the transmision, this man is absolutely weird, Wainwright giving up hits, the cards are in danger of losing the handle of this game.

Da fuq is up with the Cards' fielding tonight?

You can be bitter about Scherzer not getting the strike 3 but that's baseball, it's an imperfect game.
I wouldn't say it's fixed at all and I'm not sure I recall anything sketchy about the 2004 Yanks-Sox series, that was just an epic comeback/collapse depending on who you root for.

So a sock that may or may not have been covered in real blood is proof that the series was fixed?

Literally nothing you have said here is proof.

my heart wants the Cardinals but my head says the Sox.

As a Yankees fan my heart and head say "Go Cards !"

Another Yankee fan here...Go Cards. As much as I hated the sox before this year, the hipster beards--and their dandyish obsession with them--have pushed it over the top.

As a yankees hater, my head and heart says fuck the yankees go Sox.

So, when does Ortiz test positive, again?

Ortiz test positive again when Miggy does.
Good to see a World Series thread. Wasn't sure if it was going to happen.
Good win by the Red Sox. It is a best of seven though.
