OT - Woodley given the franchise tag

Submitted by ish on

I know that players hate the tag, but it means that he's a helluva football player.

First D. Harris and now L. Woodley! That's a great sign of the depth and talent we have representing UofM in the NFL. Who knows, B. Graham could be well on his way to earning the tag...I can't wait until we can continue the trend of sending off elite defensive talent into the NFL...

I don't think there's any question he's going to get paid. Didn't he make like 500K or 550K last year? He's easily gonna jump to the 4-5 Million range or at least he should.

If it is the exclusive franchise tag, I'll bet he'll be up around 10 million for the year. The players all like the long term deal because of the big signing bonus check. Still a huge raise for Woodley. Good for him. He's a force.  A proud Wolverine and Saginaw High Trojan.

It is really the Steelers only option at this point. They want to work out a long term deal but the labor agreement won't allow it as of now. No players salary can increase over 30% until a deal is signed. As was stated Woodley is clearly worth more than a 30% bump from his current salary.
