These outdoor games are being done to death.
One a year was fine in the NHL. That made it more special. Now? They have to squeeze every penny out of the concept by having a "stadium series" which included a game in LA last year.
Just......why.
Even Michigan is playing an outdoor game every year. The location of this year's outdoor game is a prime example of why these things need to be stopped and only played once in awhile, ON CAMPUS for the college teams.

This year's outdoor game is at a great location. What's wrong with having a game at historic Soldier Field? It's much better than playing at baseball stadiums like Comerica Park or Progressive Field.

Maybe because Soldier Field isn't in the same state as any of the 4 Universities participating.

Are outdoor games a unique as they once were? No.
But the Classic and Stadium Series still represent only 0.3% of all regular season games.
I still think it's pretty cool and will eat it up regardless of the money grab. We're spoiled growing up in Michigan and having the Wings around. The novelty of the 7 outdoor games per season is good for hockey for the parts of the nation which doesn't otherwise pay attention to the NHL.

Denver is in the plains not the mountains. Good nevertheless.

Telluride is a mountain city. Salt Lake is much more of a mountain city than Denver. Not a big deal either way.

Reliving one of the best rivalries in pro sports in the last 20 years. GO AVS!!!!

The Avs aren't presently doing their part.

Outstanding point. The Avs haven't done shit since the Statue of Wah play. They bled their farm system dry too trying to keep pace with the Wings and later the Blues (personal family rivalry between those two owners). They teased last season but have come back down to Earth this year.

Young, flash in the pan hire in Roy (like Hoke), need a few more years of seasoning.

If you recall Leopold Brothers that used to be on Main Street, they moved out here to Golden CO just west of Denver. Connor O'Neils has a sister pub around there too iirc.

Gov's Park on 7th and Logan is like Hockeytown West. Owned by a Michigan ex-pat.

too bad the avs are garbage now.

They won their division last year and have a lot of talented young players.Trust me, they are not garbage anymore. I agree that it's no longer a rivalry, but who else would they play?

This year is more representative of what they really are

This was a helluva rivalry in the 90's...
