OT: Welcome to the Brett Farve Show (Now back after a 3-week hiatus)

here are some quotes from the aricle (If I were a betting man, I'd swear Brett Favre would be joining the Vikings in the next few weeks, or at least attempt to join the team in that time frame. ... I'm absolutely convinced. Why? For starters, because everyone else on the Vikings seems to be convinced of the same thing. I mean damn near everybody! During my two days in Mankato, nearly everyone I talked to within the team talked about Favre joining not as an "if" but rather a "when." ... When I say nearly everyone I talked to on the team is convinced he's coming, that is not an exaggeration. People from all walks of life within the organization talk about it as if it's no secret, almost an afterthought. "I'm telling you it's already done," said one Viking. "Right after the Indy game (first preseason game). I don't think anyone here doesn't think that." Another Viking said, "I don't know if it's done, but I think he'll be in by the third preseason game.")

Want to now how I know Favre will come back? Because he's a douche that wants attention. He tries to pretend like he's some small town Mississippi boy. Small town MS boys don't own their own jet and act like he does.

Sounds like an angry fan from a division rival.. Just kidding, but yeah I disagree a little. I think he'd be done if Tavaris Jackson hadn't gotten hurt however that is not the case. Before Jackson got hurt, I don't think the Vikings were THAT interested in signing him. I'm sure they would have loved to have him, however it wasn't the all out pitch followed by the you can be our savior speech that most top college recruits get. Now that Tavaris is hurt, the Vikings will probably try even harder to get Favre, given the fact that their hope and savior is now... Sage Rosenfeld instead of a young, athletic, inexperienced QB that they had hoped to develop. We'll see how this plays out but I don't think Favre "retired" with the knowledge that Tavaris would get hurt and that he would be back.

harder every day. Even his die hard fanboys have to be getting the point by now. He should go to Buffalo and play with TO, they're made for each other.

I'm not really going to defend him as I'm kind of neutral on him. But as far as I've seen, his only crime has been to be undecided and wavering on playing for two years now. While that may be annoying, how is that hurting anyone or being a dick?

First, being undecided and wavering on playing didn't just start two years ago; it's pretty much been every year since 2005. Second, there were at least two press conferences that he called (nationally televised, of course) just to announce he might be retiring. Whether he meant it or not, that's pretty annoying. And, if I was a GM, if Brett Favre was better than my starting QB, and if we were in (leaked) discussions about possibly joining my team, I would hope he would make a decision before I knew I had to draft a quarterback and make roster/salary cap considerations. Meanwhile, those teams' fanbases are hyperventilating with every unsure word he says wondering if they're going making a Super Bowl run or finish 6-10. I don't know how else to describe it but as the NFL's version of the world's greatest cock tease. Other than that there's totally nothing wrong with what he's doing.

first, there's nothing wrong with being unsure, although I agree it's annoying. And it's not his fault that the fan bases are hyperventilating, that's on them. The press conferences would be televised no matter what, as I'm sure you've noticed, ESPN covers his every move--again which is on them, not him. As far as I've heard, he never once told any GM that he would be playing for sure, he's been upfront the last couple years with saying he doesn't know. All of these teams and fans would be far better off ignoring him, but instead they continue to call, the media continues to cover, and certain fans continue to want him as their QB. This says a lot more about our media and our fans than it does him, IMO.

ESPN's absolute obession with this story is why I have grown to hate Farve. He had a great career, made a decent cameo in "Somthing About Mary" helped win Desmond Howard a Super Bowl MVP trophy, so yeah . . . cool. I was even OK with the teary eyed goodbye(s). Sure he beat the Lions, but who didn't/doesn't? I can't hate him for that or I'd have to hate the entire damn league. But now, ESPN has 24 hours of Farve. He is on the crawl at the bottom of the screen more than scores from actual games. He gets more coverage on Sports Center than higlights from actual games. I'm just sick of it. I'm not sure it is all on the media. I think there is symbiotic relationship here. He pretends he is undecided, and ESPN covers him. He then tries to hide and ESPN chases. Some GM calls him and ESPN seems to know before the call ends. It just seems like he is in on the deal and must be loving the attention. Otherwise, he would just end it by saynig he wants to play or he doesn't.

Let there be no mistake that none of us will ever know the inner torment of being among the best in the world at their profession, adored by millions around the world, yet wondering if they have what it takes to perform at the same level for another grueling season. HOWEVA...can anyone name a future Hall of Fame athlete that has had his torment put on public display for so long as Brett Favre? It has been four off-seasons of "should I stay or should I go" now. The last announcement of him saying he will definitely not be playing this year fell upon my deaf ears; three weeks later we're back to the same waiting game. I don't know what pro team everybody roots for, but if conventional wisdom said that you were one quarterback away from greatness, and that quarterback kept contact with members of your team all offseason only to say he's definitely not playing ever again but uhh maybe he will after all...You wouldn't be just a little bit ticked off? Don't get me wrong, I love watching him play. I'm not even caring about him once again holding the football world hostage. Just wake me up when it's over.

In such a cynical, sarcastic society, oftentimes looking for the negative on anybody or anything, if your defense is fortunate enough to spend five minutes or 20 minutes around Brett Favre, its stats are better for it. Is that what you're trying to say?

I thought this story was over already. You're not a teenager trying to figure out which girl to ask to the prom. You're like 400 years old. And this is not at all about indecision; you've decided you just don't feel like going to training camp, and by pretending to retire you can swoop in and save the day just in time for the Dykings. Ooh, I hates you, rabbit.

1) His name is Brett FAVRE. I can't believe people are still misspelling his name. He's a former NFL MVP and he's been around since 1991 (I think). If you can't spell his name correctly, I have no choice but to question your intellect. 2) People harbor a lot of hatred for Favre. I've never seen this much vitriol for a player who's really never done anything wrong except a) get hooked on Vicodin and b) delay his retirement decision. I know some of you think he's a pre-madonna and everything...but let's save our anger for someone who really deserves it, eh? I'm sure every person here has delayed making a decision for various reasons or skipped out on something, and the guy isn't even signed to a contract, so he doesn't owe anyone anything. Just because YOU'RE paying attention doesn't mean he has to make his life decisions based on your calendar.

1)I know how to spell his name. I intended to spell it as Farve instead of Favre. 2) Its not just that he has delayed his retirement, its that he seemed to be doing just to stay in the spotlight. That is why some people hate him.
