OT: USA vs Netherlands WWC final

Submitted by crg on July 7th, 2019 at 7:13 AM

Less than 4 hours away from probably the last "big" team sports event before the start of football season (not to take anything away from the 15 year old Coco Gauff and her amazing run at Wimbledon thus far; I caught her comeback against 2 match points on Friday - magnificent).  According to Oddschecker, the USA team has 4-9 odds to win while the Netherlands are at 13-2; a draw is also given at 3-1 odds (which I assume means a penalty kick scenario, since the match must have a winner).

GO USA!  BEAT THE NETHERREGIONS!

Forgot to add in OP that game is supposed to start at 11am EDT on Fox Sports.

Edit:  since I can't change the OP, the final result was a 2 - 0 win for Team USA.  Both goals were in the second half; first was a penalty kick by Rapinoe and second was a more conventional goal by Lavalle.

Really a dick move by FIFA to do that. Other cup finals for the men's game are later today too. Made the WWC the jv game.

Supposedly to build interest. But, ah, cue Nick Fury "That's some BS right there." If you want to build interest, you make the men's game first as a lead-in to the World Cup final.

Other dates are also a thing. So no, they're not supposed to play at 8 am. They're supposed to play on a different day. Not to mention that if FIFA really had intended to use the men's games to build support for the women's game, they could have easily scheduled the men's games ahead of the women's games, and yes, that obviously means it could be done even accounting for time zones.

And what do you mean for what reason? The reason is to not be a dick. It's the goddam World Cup. It shouldn't be made into an opening act for the Copa America or Gold Cup.

Meh .....my sister's alright.

My father though, since he respected individuals based on the use of their intellect regardless of any physical characteristics would be quite proud she earned her law degree, and wouldn't be comfortable defining her by any other part of her body besides her brain, since he wasn't creepy.

And as far as how I was "raised" to understand freedoms and tyranny and stuff ......it was called the Revolutionary War.

You might want to look that up, they might be releasing the sequel soon.
