Per Jeff Goodman at CBS, Trey Ziegler will attend Pitt next year.

I know we never contacted him but I think Pitt is getting a solid player - big for them after an unusual down year.
Good for him, still think it is interesting we never even contacted him
I thought he'd have a great chance to contribute right away to this team. Glad he's out of the B1G though.
Woulda been more solid if they coulda held on to Coach Graham. Illinois or Indiana should've went after him.
I'm with Woodley. I'm still bitter about Meyer's antics mentioned in the article.
Good luck to him, I agree with rman that he is a very solid player and I would not have minded seeing him in a Michigan uniform but Pitt is a good BB school who have produced some 1st rd picks in the past. He will be fine!
He's not a point guard. He's a very similar player to Hardaway Jr. and the same year in school. We don't have a big need for a guy at that position, especially given that he's used up two years of eligibility already.
with more guys on the way. It was smart to go after him, we have better use for that scholarship.
It's possible Hardaway and Burke will be gone (although Bruke may be gone this year). Even if he did sit out this year, I'm sure we could have used him to fill the scoring void. I'm surprised no one is worried about what the team is going to look like next year.
He also has to sit out next season. He may be a good player but bringing him in wouldn't do much to address our current situation.
It's possible he won't have to sit out if the NCAA grants him a waiver, which he's applied for since CMU fired his dad. I'm not sure what the decision process is on the NCAA side but it seems like a circumstance that may allow him to play immediately.
But the NCAA isn't granting hardship exceptions for coaching changes. I believe they once did, but they have denied waivers like that for awhile now.
than just a coaching change. It was his dad. Kind of puts Trey in a tough situation. A good argument could be presented as to why it would have been a hardship to remain at CMU.
IU ran into a crunch with their wave of early commitments last year. I'm personally glad he went out east. I think he's going to be even better than his ratings suggest.
Isn't he the same guy who reported that Burke was definitely leaving? A story that no other news organization has reported and is, by all accounts, not confirmed? Maybe we should wait a week or so before we know for sure Ziegler is going to Pittsburgh.
Goodman usually does solid work at CBS. He might have jumped the gun on Trey, but we don't yet know if his "sources" are correct or not. Sometimes, we have a tendency to want to "shoot the messenger" in situations like this, but Goodman is a solid basketball guy. He either works fanatically hard, is a great curator of information, or both.
Besides, he also said in the same article that Michigan was looking at Spike Albrecht. He did sorta nail that one.
Choosing Pitt over the ACC keeps their dominance down. It helps he didn't pick any big ten schools either. The facuilities are great at pitt also. New and well designed.
Ironic he was looking at UCLA and Pitt too. Holland coached at Pitt before leaving for UCLA and Dixon coached under Holland before becoming the head coach. Zeigler stayed consistent at least.
Pitt will be in the ACC when he's eligible.
It's not ironic that he was looking at UCLA and Pitt. His dad and Dixon were assistants together under Howland at Pitt.
Still haven't heard about his father.....I bet dollars to donuts he will be an assistant.
