OT - Tigers vs. Yankees Game Two
Cabrera with a two-run shot into the short porch to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the first inning. It'd be nice if the offense can keep it up and put a nice big number up to give the Tigers home field advantage in a 3 game series.

C'mon Papa.....get us out of the jam you put yourself in
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
Why must he always make things interesting. Let's go Grande!
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:36 PM ^
Just perfect.....this got really bad really fast...runners on the corners, 0 outs and Valverde can't throw a strike to save his life
Edit: Ok 1 out, up by 2. One Double play and we're out of this mess
Edit take 2: STEEEERIKE!!! and Jeter's out! 1 guy left...and too bad it's Granderson...why couldn't it be anybody else?

October 2nd, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
Exactly. He needs to call Avila off there.
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:39 PM ^
Why didn't Inge call him off? Catching the game ending out would have shut a lot of his haters up...Full Count now...
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
Oh god no...not Cano....please dear god.....get the out...
0-2 on him....
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^

(silent celebration in the grad library=some funny stares from other people studying)

Took 1 of 2 in NY, mission accomplished.
Path to the ALCS is in view, now. If JV can outduel CC we have a decided advantage in the remaining starting pitcher matchups, in addition to home field advantage. Miggy with the huge day. MVP calibre.

Great weekend 2 be a sports fan in the state of Michigan

Listened to it on the radio in the car.
Almost drove off the road. Christ, what a 9th inning.
October 2nd, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
Fuckin Valverde man. A win is a win though.
Home field, Verlander going tomorrow. He had a couple of walks on Friday hopefully he shakes it off for tomorrow.
Tuesday is Burnett vs Porcello. Both pretty shaky pitchers but this season Porcello ERA is about .5 less than AJ but has something like 60 less K's.

In Comerica Park, deep fly outs are just as good as strikeouts.

But hey, somebody pinch me. Lions come back from 24 down in Dallas and win. Tigers take the NYY in the Bronx. Michigan is ranked 12th by AP. Perhaps tomorrow, global warming shall cease, and the Koch Bros shall give all their money to charity and retire.

I was tempted to respond in kind, but this is not the place for political sniping. You ought to delete the political references.

there is a person who grew up in the 1990s who is a Yankees/Cowboys fan who is sucking his thumb and cursing Detroit
October 2nd, 2011 at 7:31 PM ^
Nice to see Detroit teams knock the over-marketed, pretentious, commodified franchises down a few pegs.
Chrysler ad voiceover guy approves.

I might be off base here, but I thought today was a must win game for the Tigers and I think tomorrow is a must win game for the Tigers. I didn't like the Tigs chances going into the series but Scherzers' performance was the equalizer in more ways than one. Tomorrow is gonna be fun. Can't wait to see JV and Sabathia matchup in a huge game 3.
October 2nd, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
off base. They absolutely did need today's game. Likely need tomorrow's as well. Get that, and you are an AJ Burnett collapse away from the ALCS.

It was Game 3 of the NBA Finals and even though Champful the Magic shot above 62% for the game, and 75% in the first half,
