that one barely made it out but ill take it!
September 30th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Almost looked like it needed/got help from that Geneseo dude in the NYY cap who was WAY too excited to catch a non-Yankees home run ball.

Swisher....YOU SUCK
September 30th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Nice hustle by Jeter. Let's get to Verlander early boys.

September 30th, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
did anyone else catch the commentator (sorry, i don't know any of the tbs ones) say before the game "verlander and sabathia...two heavyweights going at it"
it just made me giggle a little too much. i hate the yankees so goddamn much (minus curtis granderson). i am nervous for verlander. i was at his last regular season game. maybe i am jinxing him!
September 30th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
and these announcers are generally awful, and yankees slappys.
Catch the line ragging on Jackson for not hustling a strikeout to first that was a foot away in comparison to Jeter's being a ways away.
September 30th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
Come on JV we need your A game tonight. Going up 1-0 on the Yanks would be huge.
September 30th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
All tied up. Let's get a two out hit here Tex.
September 30th, 2011 at 8:55 PM ^
At least Inge threw it to the proper base there.
October 1st, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
He should have gone home with the ball. He had plenty of time to cut down the runner.
September 30th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
got a link
September 30th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Nice to join you all for another Tigers playoff game.
Boy JV needs to settle down eh?

JINX!
September 30th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
I AM STILL PISSED INGE IS PLAYING
CAPS LOCK
September 30th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
Inge is fine against LH pitching since he came back up. Betemit still is clearly not 100% so I can live with Inge against LH pitching only.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
1. Detroit gets lots of solo home runs
2. Detroit has more innings where a team scores and there are no hits than I have ever seen (always when Verlander is on the mound it seems)
September 30th, 2011 at 9:02 PM ^
I'm mildly surprised that Don Kelly is playing somewhere and hitting 2nd.
Also, Raburn fielded a ball and didn't cause 5 unearned runs as a result. Progress, I suppose.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
A-rod got bailed-out
September 30th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
textbook case of conservative fielding, which is okay...odds are he would have gotten him at home but more prudent to avoid a big first inning
and I'm a Yankee fan - just admire smart baseball
September 30th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
i definitely don't think he should've gone to home
brandon inge just irks me on a lot of different levels
September 30th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
Had he gathered himself quickly and made a strong throw, he could have easily gotten him. He looked at home plate, gulped and shivered, then ran out of time for the out there. If that was regular season baseball, I think he goes home and gets him.
September 30th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
Jeter was more than halfway to home and it would have been a bang-bang play. If Jeter is safe, there would be a runner on 1st and 3rd with 1 out instead of 2 outs. It would have prolong JV's inning. Just take the sure out and move on.
September 30th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
exactly my point...they were right in trading the run to avoid giving up a big first inning with Verlander on the mound
September 30th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
You guys are so thin-skinned. Any comment rooting for the Yankees is flamebait? Really?
September 30th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Go start a Yankees open thread.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Ilitch is a saint and I bite my thumb at the house of steinbrenner
September 30th, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
One could argue that Illitch being a saint has been a factor in deterring him from bringing the club a long-awaited World Championship.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
Fuck off.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
There's no fucking way we don't get a rain delay soon.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
there gonna let this inning go and then stop the game...so this wil basicly be a wasted inning for Detroit.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
How long can they let them play in this? It's like the bishop's golfing in Caddyshack.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
I'm in NY and they may stop for a while but it won't be called - this is more like intermittent thunderstorms
September 30th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
Oh, make no mistake. They're not raining this out. We'll be here until 4 AM if necessary.
September 30th, 2011 at 10:25 PM ^
well, I certainly stand corrected....very surprised...but apparently steadier rain coming around midnight
September 30th, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
Oops.
Pass the ketchup, please. I hear it's good for washing down crow.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Who wants to bet the game will be delayed before the Yankees bat?
September 30th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
I don't want Verlander to turn an ankle or twist a knee, but they should have called it before the tigers were at bat.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
What a complete and utter shock the tarp came out like it did. A fricking wasted inning for the tigers at the plate.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
Anyone else think the strike zone seems like it's flucuating a bit?, especially on the outside corner.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
CC was coming back with darts after a few outside pitches....JV didn't quite come back that way. So for now I will say it is up to JV to start putting it back in the strike zone or he isn't gonna get the outer part of the plate all night long.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
I agree wholeheartedly.
If you show that you are pounding the strike zone, you will get the benefit of the doubt on borderline calls much more often than not. If you're all over the place, you're not going to get the close calls.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
easy to throw darts with confidence when you know the pitcher can't see the ball through the rain or catch up to a ball with a slippery bat.
October 1st, 2011 at 9:01 AM ^
And there's no disadvantage to the pitcher throwing the rain?
September 30th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Delayed. Sucks.
September 30th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Tarp is on.
Roy Orbison could see that coming.
