OT Thursday Night Open Distraction Thread
Hi Folks! I wanted to put together the Thursday Night sports watching/shooting the breeze thread- I figured we could use a place to talk about *sigh* something else for a bit.
Anyone watching any of tonight's games? I've got Syracuse at VA Tech on, but BIlls vs Bucs kicks off in about 20 minutes (as of this writing), the Wings are currently down to the Jets, and there's a handful of other games going. So far it looks like Syracuse can't get out if it's own way just yet. VA Tech up 3-0.
Since I've kinda mentioned before that I'm a bit of a hobby chef- I'm making weird pizza tonight for when my wife gets home. We had some leftover slow-cooker roast pork for tacos in the fridge from a few days ago, so I'm using that to make Cubano pizza. So, roast pork, prosciutto, dill pickle slices, a mix of mozzarella and Swiss cheese, over a mustard garlic cream sauce. I'm not a pizza purist, obviously, although I have no problem with folks who are. Live your pizza life the way you want, I say!

And that pizza sounds delicious! Almost makes me wish I hadn't stopped eating pork.

Thanks! I saw a YouTube video on pickle pizza with a garlic sauce, and it sounded pretty great, and then I got the idea for the Cubano thing when I was thinking about what to do with the leftovers. I bet you could do something similar with chicken, or maybe even just mushrooms, and just use similar spices.

I found some old pulled pork in the freezer too. Turned out it was some weird stuff that I was trying to make into this smoked carnitas thing that was a total fail.
Is it BBQ? Is it carnitas? Yes. But also no. All I know is it sucked.
Now to the hot tub and Bucs/Bills.

I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder last year that wrecks my joints, so I “need it” for “therapy”.
I’ve only had it since late June so we’re just coming into prime time for it. It’s fine in summer but it sure hits a lot different in the cold.

Oh they're so good, definitely one of my favorite sandwiches. I'm doing it as a pizza hut-style pan pizza, in a cast-iron skillet, so the crispy crust should be a good analog for the crispy pressed sandwich.

That was a nice FG by the kicker from Syracuse. But this Hokie defense looks like the dominant defenses they had of old. Granted they are playing Syracuse but it makes me remember back to all of those great VT teams in the early 2000s and it’s crazy to see what they are today.

I turned the game off when Dan Mullen said he'd put Michigan 5th in his playoff rankings. Mrs. Bassclefstef and I watched Evil Dead 2 instead. The pizza turned out pretty great though
