OT (sort of): Next week's ESPN the Magazine Cover
Uh-mazing.
I saw this yesterday but I thought it was a joke. I guess not. That is pretty cool!
That just made my day. I will now go out and by my first ESPN magazine next week!
it just feels so damn good when the nation shares, and thus validates, our schadenfreude.
... cant wait to get that in my mailbox
I, too, got a cheap subscription and am waiting to start recieving. It's been a few months now so hopefully I will get my first issue soon. Kind of frustrating but can't argue for $3.
That may be enough to make be become an insider
As an aside, if you're interested enough in sports to be a regular MGoBlogger, 4 or 5 bucks a months for Insider and the Mag is one of the best expenditures you can make. I subscribe to both ESPN and SI, both have excellent sportswriting but ESPN Mag. includes more off-the-field stuff and just plain interesting articles, as well as having a slightly edgier feel to it, if that makes any sense.
this may sound ridiculous, but I hate--HATE--the odd size of the magazine. it doesn't fit in the magazine rack in the john and therefore goes directly into the garbage when it comes in the mail.
although, i must say around holiday time, it comes in handy as wrapping paper.
You mean you throw it in the garbage and then take it back out and wrap presents in it? Eeeeew...
awesome...best cover they've had in a long time. I totally agree on the weird size of the mag-not sure why they thought that was a good idea
This kind of reminds me of one of Jeremy's 2010 season wallpapers. Would have made a good one!
This issue is worth the dollar subscription I paid for the mag
TSIO fans still call Michigan "cheaters" from the Ed Martin Fiasco, not to mention Practicegate. They did their share of laughing when Michigan was the scapegoat du jour for all things wrong with college sports. Now, it's time for TSIO to suffer the indignity of well-deserved payback.
I can't wait to unfurl such gems as "all that cheating and you still couldn't beat an SEC team when it counted."
Or, "after the Maurice Clarett incident, it was only a matter of time before the dirtiest program in the NCAA got caught."
Or, "nice streak against Michigan. Too bad you had to cheat to do it."
It is going to be a lot of fun. Just think of how great it would be if this was only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The Scarlet Wall of Silence has been breached; it could deteriorate more rapidly than they ever expected. If they piss off the wrong reporters, they could be opening up a very large can of worms, because I am fully convinced that some of the media people down there know a lot more than they have ever divulged.
man that has to sting down south of the border...unfortunately for them I think this is still in the early stages
New profile picture right there.
Well, I got my copy of ESPN in the mail today; the cover matches the picture in the tweet. There's a two page spread to start the article which has pictures of various people related to violations and controversy. Unfortunately, it includes a picture of RichRod.
Michigan is mentioned in the article a few times. We're referenced once when talking about Bruce Pearl's contract termination (also a mention of Tennessee's blowout loss in the tournament) and there's an allusion to the Ed Martin scandal as well. There's also a list of teams punished by the NCAA since last May and Michigan is listed:
"Michigan: Exceeding coaching staff limits, practice-season violations, unethical conduct, failure to monitor"
About half of the article focuses on OSU, so the schadenfreude is strong with this one (with bonus picture of Tressel in their spring game camo abomination). I wish we weren't mentioned, but it's probably worth picking up for the cover alone
Can't wait to find it at the newsstand.
Thank you, thank you
Got this issue today in the mail, and could not wait to see it shared with the board ha! Everyone is joining in on the fun at tSIO's expense.
People would be shitting bricks right now if the caption were "Liar, Liar, vest on fire."
