They couldn't fire him after 5 games into his second year could they? Who the hell is going to sign up for that job if that's on the table? Maybe he was just passed out drunk? Seriously, maybe he has a higher drinking problem.

Haden gets a lot of shit, but putting Sark on a leave of absence to deal with his problems -- if in fact the problems are alcoholism -- is the right move here.

EDIT: On second thought, the right move was to do this after he was pulled off stage at the Salute to Troy event.  That was a big red flag, and it went by with no punishment.  It was apparently known (as I'm now reading) that Sark's issues with alcohol were no secret even while he was at Washington.  Haden's just created a bigger mess by allowing this to happen in the middle of the season.  He should rightfully come under heavy fire for this.

but this might relate to Sarkisian's off season drinking issue.  Just a guess but he might be seeking treatment.

I watched Thursday game and he just doesn't seem very healthy, looks like a guy who drinks alot.

I kind of thought the same thing watching them, and it looks like that's what the problem is.  Hope he gets the help he needs.  Probably should have gone this route at the start of the season when he was pulled from stage for being too drunk.

But he assembled a damn fine group of players.  Would anyone be surprised if at some point in the future he has a job and is a better coach than he was at Michigan?  I bet he will never let an AD set in on film,  he will demand better assistants under the coordinators.  If he were to make the improvement he will have to goto places and learn the techniques of successful coaches.  Coaching at Michigan on his resume will get him another shot.

I will be absolutely shocked if Hoke is hired as head coach by another Power 5 team, let alone an upper echelon team like USC. Your comment about him demanding better assistants is interesting. Is there any evidence he didn't get who he wanted? It seemed to me like he was given cart blanche to hire who he wanted and he just brought along the guys he knew and worked with in the past despite the job being too big for them.

Ehh. Hoke is a guy with a BCS win on his resume and a resume pre-Michigan that absolutely qualifies him for a lower level P5 gig. I could totally see him coaching at like Purdue or Iowa State. I would actually not be at all shocked if one of those exact programs hired him after this season, in fact. I mean, look at Ron Zook to Illinois.

Point taken.....but if I were an AD at a bottom of the rung Power 5 school, I'd be looking to take a chance on a younger up and coming coach than someone who failed so badly at a big time program. The only thing Hoke did well was recruit and a large part of that is the fact he was recruiting for Michigan. I doubt he'd be able to pull in the kind of talent he did while here at Illinois for example. So, take away his recruiting and what have you got left? A guy who can't handle the rigors of being HC.

The best part of the program he left behind was the DL.....which, coincidentally, is his specialty. All other aspects of the team needed a TON of work by Harbaugh and staff to turn around in short order and we had to import our current QB in order for this work.

I'd hire him at a Power 5 school as DL coach but that's it......

From the reports out there, it sounds like he was "in bad shape" this morning and was sent home by Pat Haden.  And then was placed on a leave of absence.

Given his issues with alcohol earlier in the year, you can probably read between the lines at what's wrong here.

Here's hoping Sark gets the help he needs.
