OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 5/18: Solve Your Problems With Aggression

Submitted by AmaizeingBlue on

We had a good day! Yesterday we ended up winning 8 of 11 possible territories and have created ourselves a nice 3 territory buffer that we do not need to defend today. Meanwhile, OSU is down to their last territory in the northeast and have retreated all the way back to Pittsburgh. We are one more good day away from really clamping down on them.

For the past 11 days we have had a steady growth in active users. Last night OSU had a drop of 100 users that didn't participate. So we urge you all to continue to be active in this game. Your daily votes do help tremendously.

Announcements:

Please don't attack any Clemson territories today. We have agreed to a non-agression pact with them today, so we can focus all of our efforts on OSU.

If you are a relatively new reddit user, please check the game page to ensure that you are not being flagged as a bot. If you are flagged you will see a text box like the one below. If you see this box, then follow the hyperlink to fill out the surve, but ALSO message /u/bakonydraco directly on reddit to get the issue sorted out.

Instructions to Join:

To join all you need to do is go to reddit.com/r/cfb and create an account if you don't already have one. Next, set your flair to Michigan. You can do this by clicking "Select Flair" on the right side of the cfb subreddit. Finally, you can join and play the game at https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php

If you want to discuss the game in deeper detail and strategize with us, you can join our discord server found here: https://discord.gg/TcZBTcj. We usually announce plans of what we want to attack/defend in the evenings, but we discuss strategy all day. Be warned though, there will be a vetting process to join the discord as we have had some mole issues from OSU. Even if you don’t pass the vetting process, we can still provide less-secret instructions in the general chat so that you can still help us towards our goals until we can fully 100% trust you.

Additionally, we have formed "The Blue Alliance" with Florida, Georgia Tech and Texas. If you would like to meme about this, go to: www.reddit.com/r/CFBRisk/

Go Blue!

Instructions as to how to play:

At the beginning of the game. Every team was assigned one single territory, and so every territory is now named after that team. When you go to select an action in the game, you'll see option such as:

"Defend Buffalo", "Attack Penn State", "Attack Kent State".

This means that we border the location that was originally assigned to Penn State and Kent State. If you choose to attack Penn State, you will attempt to take that piece of land next round. Defend Buffalo, means that we currently own Buffalo's original homeland, and defending Buffalo means putting your stars towards keeping Buffalo from being taken.

After you submit what you're doing for the day, just sit back at wait! At Midnight EST all of the picks from all of the teams go in, and a random number generator selects a winner for each territory. Then it all happens again tomorrow.

We had a non-agression pact with them yesterday to see if we can trust them in good faith. Given the results from last night, Clemson might be trustworthy, and so far hasn't been terribly aggressive against us. Maybe one of the game mods for UM can speak to this more in light of the results.

on the catchy titles you use in your daily CFB Risk OPs. Especially today's "Solve Your Problems with Aggression".

I will take your advice. And maybe even sign up later today after work, otherwise the boss might decide to solve my problem aggressively.

Neraska has a lot of territory but I don't know that it's the best position to be in.  Their map looks bigger than it is because many of their territories are very large compared to the ones in the midwest and NE.  Additionally, they have a lot of boarders to defend.  Out of their 21 territories, only 2 don't need to be defended.  Meanwhile, if Michigan takes back Maine, 8 of our 11 territories don't need to be defended.  Florida is in a good position as well with 5 completely safe territories.

I have absolutely no interest in participating (sorry) but I am enjoying the saga.  These posts take 2 mins to read and I find the daily strategic updates & results exponentially more entertaining than half the other dipshit OT threads on the board.

Have to post the map though. This is all gibberish if I can't see where everybody's army stands.
