Let's go Wings!!

Of all great Wings teams, I would not have expected this team to pull it off. Great for them.

this Red Wings team has been able to extend the streak due solely to the shootout wins. This streak ended long ago without those.

Hasn't OT always been 5 minutes?
February 11th, 2012 at 5:26 PM ^
According to wikipedia, it was 10 min up till WWII, when on 11/21/42 this site says wartime restrictions on train travel put an end to regular season OT.
In 1983-4 the NHL reinstated regular season OT as a 5-min period.

Bertuzzi with the slow-mo move. Joey Mac has looked excellent in net too. Go Wings!

That was awesome. So calm and collected. Against Hiller too, who's no schmuck.

Glad to see Bert playing good hockey again. He has been clutch in the shoot out for the Wings the last few season.

Bert sure changed it up. Usually he goes really wide, but this time went super slo-mo up the middle.
Keep it going, Wings!

Another shootout win! A lot of luck has to go into a streak like this. Bertuzzi is so much fun to watch in the shootout. You never know what's coming. With Datsyuk you know what's coming but they still can't stop it.

That overtime was unreal, both theatrically and athletically.
But a dub is a dub. And I am happy the Wings keep winning at home. As long as they keep winning at home like this, the cup will be risen in the right town.
Also, the last two times the Patriots lost in the Super Bowl (before this year), the Wings won the cup. Just saying. 1997 and 2008.

Considering we were getting pounded with shots in the 3rd period (OT was pretty much even) it's nice to see this team grind out a win. 7-2 in shootouts!
February 10th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
Awesome and all, but are you the same guy that posted "JUSTIN VERLANDER NO-HITTER!" in the seventh inning?

Would a tie really break a home win streak? The more I think about it, I guess it would.
Edit: this was meant to be a reply to the comment about how Detroit is lucky to have all the shootout wins to help them get to this point.
February 11th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
it's weird how we treat ties in North America... in Europe, a team that wins or draws in every game would be considered undefeated and a team that draws or loses every game would be considered winless. Meanwhile, nobody ever mentions the 1982 Baltimore Colts as having gone winless in spite of them going 0-8-1 and our 9-0-3 team in 1992 is never counted amongst undefeated Michigan seasons.

The streak would have ended at 15. This was only the second shootout at home this year; at home they really have been as good as the 22-2-1 record indicates. This makes their .500 record on the road puzzling because they've also been as bad on the road as their record indicates.

I'm loving this losing streak the Blackhawks are on, hope it continues.

Couldn't have scripted this situation better!
Go Wings!

Go Wings! That makes up for driving to EL in a blizzard, only to watch us blow a 2-0 lead.
