OT: Peach Bowl returns

Submitted by mobablue on

Chik-fil-a is bringing 'Peach' back to the title of the bowl game in Atlanta, it will be called "The Chik-fil-a Peach Bowl".

A nice change, hopefully some of the other bowls follow suit!

If there must be a corporate sponsor I would rather it be done like the Rose Bowl, i.e. "The Peach Bowl, Presented by Chick-fil-a." But I suppose this better than before.

The playoff organizers stipulated that the Atlanta bowl’s name would have to become more in sync with the other five in the semifinal rotation, all of which include a traditional moniker as well as a corporate sponsor: Allstate Sugar Bowl, Discover Orange Bowl, AT&T Cotton Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl Presented by Vizio.

Yeah, if you read them as they are named, the format of the Rose Bowl name seems to sound better in this case. That being said, it is good to see the traditional name of the bowl somewhere in the name again, although the article seems to indicate that they could have very well gone in a totally different direction with this too.

I'm glad they were forced to go back to a traditional bowl name. Now I can just simply call it the Peach Bowl just like I do every other former BCS bowl game. The new playoff games are the Sugar, Rose, Orange, and Cotton, I just don't care who the sponsors are. The only one that really sticks out is Tostitos with the Fiesta Bowl.
