OT: Parking for the soccer game next Saturday
We are looking to tailgate for the soccer game next week. I think the golf courses won't be available, but Pioneer should be. Any details available on when Pioneer will open?
I was checking Park 'n Party but most of those locations are at houses and we will have about 20 people joining us.
Any info would be appreciated.
But is the game sold out?
There are a ton of tickets on Stubhub (there were over 4,700 last night when I checked).
In other news, Cristiano Ronaldo is now going to be at the game. Link
I think it actually sold out during pre-sale, but they were holding a lot of tix and lots of corporate seats.
I had four tix, but I can't go now. Put them on Stubhub, and they got bought late last night - in UPS to the new lucky owner in Southfield!
What did you get for them?
is open for parking per mgoblue
Open, weather permitting. Here's the mgoblue.com link: Parking, Transportation, Traffic and Road Construction Information. Here's the link for Pioneer parking info: michiganeventparking.com. It says for autos, gates 1, 2, and 5 open at 6 am; gates 6 and 7 open at 8 am. Cost is $60.
In regard to road construction, be aware of the Ann Arbor-Saline construction.
Woah, $60...
Just a friendly reminder that if you're not tailgating you drive a mile or two north of the stadium (or less if you're early) there's plenty of free parking sports in the west-side neighborhoods.
Don't even have to drive that far, can just go downtown to a garage and park for the day for like $6. Then when you go out to dinner after the game your car is right there. Kills me when I see how cheap the parking structures are there living in NYC.
That link shows info for football game days. I hope it is the same for the soccer game.
You need to scroll to the bottom of the page, where the info on the soccer game is. I summarized the info from there. (Note that "general auto" parking for football games is $50, not $60.)
FYI, there's also construction on Jackson.
...it’s possible that the construction could be happening on either side of Maple Road during the Aug. 2 event.
There's a slightly more recent article that says they're working to have the entire road open for the soccer match, with the construction resuming after that weekend:
Davettila said MDOT anticipates finishing reconstructing half the road by Aug. 1 in order to reopen the full street for the soccer match at Michigan Stadium Aug. 2. Work will resume on the road Monday, August 4 and is expected to continue until Labor Day.
Is that about Jackson or Huron? Huron is the last street mentioned before that part.
You know what—your guess is as good as mine. After reading it again, that article seems very confusingly written.
I have several prime parking spots at State between Stadium and Granger. I expect the parking situation will be like that of a night fooball game.
There were 86K+ at the Man Utd thrashing of LA Galaxy (7-0 LOL) last night.
At least people don't expect much out of MLS teams in that type of game. Brazil's performance against Germany on the otherhand...
Traffic is going to be crazy post game with all of the construction, especially Saline rd. I'm going with my father and brother in laws, were actually planning to walk back after the game (I live next to meijer on saline).
Yep. If you plan on driving in and out, I feel for you. It gonna be bad.
Anyone know if the game is televised at all?
Yes. FOX (the main station) has it.
Any idea what the parking costs will be for the golf course since it's normally $40, I'm guessing maybe $50 like pioneers upcharge?
glory glory man united glory glory man united glory glory man united the reds are marching on on on
yay for a 3-5-2!
but hosting this is kind of an insult to the Big House. Hockey is one thing but soccer seriously? I would understand a little more if it was U of M soccer
Oh shut up.
whatever dude
Appreciate the fact that The Big House gets two hours of publicity to a worldwide audience.
The average price for this "offensive" game is probably higher than most UM football games this year. These are two of soccer's most historic franchises.
lack of scoring is why soccer is not popular in America. That and they can't hit each other
Two weeks of the World Cup was not enough to get your rant out of your system? How could you have anything left to say that was not said a dozen times already?
