This old catholic's doctor has deemed it to be bad for my life expectancy to eat these...not to mention I don't feel like 11 hours on a treadmill to burn it off. That being said these are quite tasty and makes me love our Polish brethren

so interestingly enough these are actually consumed on the Thursday before in Poland. I work in a Polish neighborhood in Philly and the local market/bakery had them on Thursday which is when I got them (also have them today). But I got my fix in already.

Anybody else had the fad bakery item the Cronut? To me it is remarkably similar (but I like the paczki better)

Went to Dimo's on Stadium this morning. 20 minute line, they only had two flavors left when I got to the front of it, and goddamn it was the best packzi I've ever had. Raspberry. Mmmm. The girlfriend is gonna try to stop there on her way to work before they close to see if she can't snag one of their late-day apple or blueberry ones. Also someone at work brought some, but I don't know where they're from.

The coney Packzi would require me to go to American and why the fuck would I do that

We get ours direct from New Palace in Hamtramck - each year, someone volunteers to run down there and stand in line for us, although it helps that we have people who have to pass through the city to get to our office, so we typically encourage them to volunteer before any of us do.

All the same, the PB&J one they introduced this year was very good indeed. I would recommend it.

It is also that one day of the year where it is good to remind people that it is grammatically impossible to eat one paczki.

I knew I was missing something by not going into work today. There is always a big stack of paczki's on fat tuesday. Oh well, Im fat enough for a Tuesday already.

crowd. my wife of 25 years is Polish. I even lived in hamtramack once. I have eaten my share of those foul pastries, perogies (yum) etc etc. so I have earned the right say whatever I want.

All in good fun brother! Feel free to neg me if I disparage one of your favorite foods/celebrations - and please do so with a smile on your face like I did. Certainly to each their own (and their neg!)

Do NOT get these at Meijer or Kroger.  Good lord do yourself a service and go to an actual bakery (preferably Polish).  The one's at generic grocery stores / quality dairies / etc. are just donuts and definitely not true to form.
