OT: Orioles' Chris Davis sets record for at bats without a hit

Title says it all. Chris Davis hasn't had a single hit this year yet, and hasn't since last September, which is now the longest drought by any position player ever. This has to be infuriating if you're an Orioles fan.
Yep sure is, considering he is a decent first baseman and hit over 50 homers one year. Oh well we are still rebuilding anyway.
Looks like he picked the wrong week to get off the juice...
Didn't Know Adderall was a steroid
Either way, when that sun burns out we're all gonna die.
HEY! If you had to choose between an 0-49 streak and getting mad cow disease what would it be??
I guess I'm just a worryer.
Also in the middle of a $161 million dollar contract, so if nothing else he is still a legend at the bank.
Bobby Bonilla laughs at that contract
Bruce Sutter says, "hold my beer, Bobby"

His PED use kept miggy from getting back to back triple crowns. Even if he wasn’t using roids, which to keep that low of body fat year round it’s likely he has, the drugs he was taking were on the banned list for a reason. They help athletes enough to give them a competitive advantage.
he tested positive for Adderall which is because he has ADHD, not truly a PED.
It enhanced his performance and is therefore a performance enhancing drug. There was a reason why it was a banned substance. Steroids are just another performance enhancer.
That is a bit of a stretch, the only thing it would do would be to allow him to have extra focus at the plate, but hitting power would have nothing to do with it. This has all to do with him having ADHD which he had an exemption for the previous year due to an existing condition. It also has to be prescribed by a physician as it is a controlled substance for obvious reasons, but it sounds like you are just upset about Miggy not getting another triple crown.
there is no way Davis was clean from steroids. How often was he tested the season he hit 50+ hrs? IIrc he wasn’t even tested until the following season.
This sounds like every baseball writer in America, we have no evidence of steroid use, but I think he used so I will make baseless accusations and see if it sticks.

Its a perfectly valid take given that MLB didn’t have the courage to test him multiple times during the season. How do you explain that season? Just lucky?
"This has to be infuriating if you're an Orioles fan. "
Yes... Yes it is.
17+ million a season through 2022 I believe. Damn.
Helpful suggestion -- don't try to calculate dollars per hit . . . .
Dollars per at bat though...
Well worth the money.
Mikie Mahtook is now 0-20 to start the season and i think he is up to an 0-29 streak as well.
I hear ya. But, he's not making $161 million over 7 years.
I get he makes an insane amount of money and that should be a salve for the emotional damage, but dang, it seemed like ESPN went out of their way last night on SC to troll him as long and as hard as they could.
They highlighted all his at bats, showed him jogging back to the dugout head down and just for good measure, showed the "hot and cold" chart (all cold) over home plate. It wasn't like it was a slow news day and they needed content. I mean, there was a national championship game to cover.
I'm a Twins fan, so I don't have a dog in the fight, but I was left feeling bad for him and thinking he must have burned some serious bridges to be piled on like that.
He has 161 million reasons not to feel too bad.
Surprised nobody has asked the real question yet: how many of us could get at least 1 hit in 50 ABs? I'd love to try , lol.
Yup, and I’d try it for a lot less than $161 million dollars.
It's almost like that movie "Mr. 3000"
His pride won't let him do it, but he should accept being optioned to the minors in order to get his issues resolved. A two week assignment might allow him to swing the bat without the pressure of winning or losing. Maybe, he could start seeing the ball better, working on his mechanics, and swinging more confidently. He needs to get some at-bats under his belt without the hitless streak hovering over him.
