OT NBA trade ideas - specifically Pistons facilitating Davis to LAL
With Anthony Davis asking out of NO, and desiring to end up on the Lakers, I found myself wondering if the Pistons could benefit from facilitating this.
I went with the thought that the Pelicans wouldn’t have much use for most of the Lakers roster, as they would need to net a legit 5 in any Davis trade. I think perhaps if the Pistons added Drummond to the package NO receives, it might work out to everyone’s benefit.
Using the NBA trade machine, I found a few things that worked, including:
LAL receives A Davis
NO receives A Drummond and K Kuzma
DET receives M. Wagner, K Pope, L Ball
I freely admit that I’m not anywhere near knowledgeable about the NBA to know if this makes sense for the teams involved. Feel free to trash me, but the more pertinent question is do the Pistons want to get involved in something like this?

Nets extended Dinwiddie a few weeks back

Russell is gonna ask for a good chunk on his next deal; him, dinwiddie, and caris are all incredibly similar players. When I watch them they usually sit Russell late in games in favor of dinwiddie. His value isn’t as high as you think and they want help on the wing. Maybe attach a future first or have Stanley agree to an extension. I said Stanley plus whatever else.
In my mind they cant trade Blake or Luke. Everyone else is available. I like reggie b but he’s expiring and can net you something pretty decent in return to a contender looking for shooting.

Not sure why anyone would want Drummond but sure

Don't do it. The Brow to the Celtics is what we need. :)

Apparently, due to some odd salary cap rules, the Celtics would be required to trade Kyrie as part of any trade for Davis

If done now, yes, but the conventional wisdom is AD gets traded to Boston after July 1 for Tatum, Brown and two first rounders. Then Kyrie re-signs with Boston.

That is a bad trade for the Pistons.

NO would get boned in that deal. Nobody wants Andre and his contract. Also, there's no way they don't get at least one 1st round pick.
Our idiot owner finally showed up to a game tonight and said he's still trying to get the team into the playoffs this year. There's a real race to the bottom right now with the owners of the Detroit franchises.

Sadly, I don't think there's a single player on the pistons roster who has great trade value. Blake Griffin to a contender maybe, but with his injury history and ridiculous contract he'd likely scare off most teams. Drummond's a no because he hasn't improved in 3 years and also has a terrible contract. Ish Smith is the only guy outside of everyone else who's worth his contract for a contender imo. This really makes you realize how bad our last few drafts have been too, and illustrates why it's terrible to be picking 6-10 every year.

no one on this team has any significant trade value because of all the bad contracts SVG signed players to.

sucks for the Pistons

no one wants to take on that albatross that is Drummond's contract

I hate this trade. Lonzo is a terrible headache, I was thrilled when we got rid of KCP, and Wagner doesn't give this team enough to be worth those two headaches.
