Wow that just made me laugh out loud. I showed my osu grad girlfriend the website and got another great laugh.  I then got a 3rd laugh when she said that it's just as hard to get into osu as it is Michigan.  Thanks for that one.

I forget the specifics, but if I recall, Ohio law requires OSU to admit anybody who graduates high school. Now they are technically allowed to shun such students to a sattelite campus, but I think all of those combined are only worth like 1/5 of their total enrollment, so most of them do end up in Columbus.

This is a whole lot of garbage.  Just pick.  I don't care about law firms, or these people, expect Greg Monroe, and Mayor Kevin Johnson.

Yep.  Using picks as incentive to shed a bad contract is becoming an increasingly common practice.  Baron Davis has 28.65 million owed to him over the next two years.  The 10-11 salary cap was 58 million, and at 31 years old Baron is too injury-prone, out of shape, and unmotivated to justify taking up 25% of the salary cap when there are 11 other players on the roster to pay.

Davis was virtually untradeable.  Of course LAC didn't think they'd be giving up the #1 pick (which would have been GREAT for their publicity, especially after LAL imploded in the playoffs), but the risk was worth taking in a weak draft.

LOL@ the Clippers, though.  That would have been the fourth time in franchise history that they had recieved the #1 pick (Danny Manning, Michael Olowokandi, Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving?).

for not protecting their top 3 pick after Baron Davis trade. Dumb, dumb, dumb. The Cavs have #1 and #4 pick. Talk about stroke of luck by the Cavs.

As for the Pistons, it has to be disappointing because it's either Kyrie Irving or bust since they really need a PG.  Brandon Knight isn't a true PG.  Jimmer is not a PG either.  The draft is incredibly weak that I much rather have the Pistons go for player with huge upside.  This is why I want them to draft Biyombo and have him play Euro ball next season while there's a lockout.  He's raw but he has huge upside as a player.  He's pretty big, athletic, outstanding shotblocker/rebounder.  Would be a great compliment to Greg Monroe.

A C is the biggest need.  Aside from Greg Monroe, who many think is better suited as a PF, we only have a 36 year old Ben Wallace (likely to  retire), 6'5" Jason Maxiell, or journey-man Chris Wilcox (probably won't be re-signed) that have center experience on the roster.

Monroe would optimally play large chunks of the game out of the high post, as he did at Georgetown, where he averaged 4 assists a game as a senior.  If he's going to split time at PF and C, another young center is a must have.

Adding a non-pure PG to the roster could add to our logjam at SG.  We would then have Stuckey, Gordon, and Hamilton at the position, which would be terrible.

I agree on Biyombo.  If he or Kanter are gone, I would look into trading down or even out of the draft.

As for Knight, he could still be there at #8.
#2 Minnesota doesn't need him, as they have Luke Ridnour, Jonny Flynn (both former lotto picks), and reports have Ricky Rubio coming stateside if there is an 11-12 season.
#3 Utah has Devin Harris, who is no slouch.
#4 Cleveland will take Kyrie Irving #1 and would be silly to draft two.
#5 has Jose Calderon who has a difficult-to-move contract, and traded for Jerryd Bayless last year, a former lotto pick.  They have a  bigger need at C, where Bargnani is overmatched on a nightly basis.
#6 Washington has John Wall, ROY runner-up.
#7could take a PG, as Tyreke Evans is a combo guard and can be effective at SG, but their biggest need is SF, as they are starting Francisco Garcia (scrub).

the Pistons drafting Brandon Knight. He's not a pure PG and has had trouble against physical players especially in the NCAA tourney in which he struggled to get shots off.  Good athlete and is a streaky shooter.  There's too many combo G on the roster.

The Pistons really needs interior toughness that goes true to the blue-collar mentality of Detroit area.  This is why Biyombo would be a good pick because of his shot blocking and rebounding.  He is a good compliment to Greg Monroe.  Monroe can play at the high post and can find Bismack down low for an easy dunk.

Right  on.

We would need a true PG if we ever wanted Stuckey to become the combo guard off the bench that we dreamed of when Chauncey and Rip were on the team.
We could use a true SF to compete with Daye, considering that Tayshaun will likely walk unless we overpay and McGrady is a longshot to come back.  Daye's production per minute was virtually identical as a rookie and as a sophomore, and I fear he won't be a long-term solution as a starter.  Jerebko's put on about 20 pounds during his injured time and I think he's bulked up to an exclusive PF.
and, like you said, we need that defensive anchor and/or a complement to Greg Monroe's high post play from the low block.

The only players that fit the bill that wouldn't be reaches at #8 are Enes Kanter and Bismack Biyombo.  I wish Harrison Barnes were in the draft.

that they don't want Biyombo simply because he's a European(well he's from Congo) big man and he's very young.  However, he is far more proven in Euro ball level than Darko and was #1 in shotblocking and among the leader in rebounding which is very impressive when he only started playing basketball at 15.  His outstanding anticipation and timing for shot block is very impressive.  At worst, he'll be a Ben Wallace type which is totally fine with me if he doesn't pan out.  At best, he'll be a Hakeem Olajuwon type in a sense that he'll become an athletic low post scorer who is also a great defensive center though he doesn't have his grace, agility and finesse moves that Hakeem have.  People forget that Hakeem came to USA extremely raw and relied on his talent and athleticism to be successful.  He developed into one of the premier player in the league and now he's a HOF C.  IMO, Biyombo is a safe pick despite the fact that he's raw because of his defensive abilities and athleticism with huge potential to become a special player down the road.

The problem with this thought is that most of the teams you listed have PGs who they are not happy with.

I agree no minnesota at 2, but not because of the PGs.  Rubio is likely to stay in spain with the lockout looming for at least another year or two.  Flynn and Ridnour both suck, so they need a PG but Williams wont be passed up here

utah = ok with harris, but he's not phenomenal so they're looking for a pg

cleveland = correct, they dont need one

toronto = will look pg if kanter is not available as he is the only big i see them taking there becuase all other posts in the draft at this point in the  draft are similar style to bargnani

washington = john wall no

sacramento = there is no SF worth taking here other than maybe one of the euros.  They could look pg

Even with this makeup though, there is hope that maybe they can get B. Knight or K. Walker

How the hell can David Stern remain the commissioner of the NBA? No one trusts anything that happens in this league. When nobody else has accusations of fixing and conspiracies and yet you can't have a year without a lot of people saying "boy that doesn't smell right," you know there is something off about the way you do business.

Bottom line is this. People think the NBA lottery is fixed and yet they continue to hold it behind closed doors, year after year. Stern thinks he is invincible and is essentially thumbing his nose at his critics.

I hope the NBA takes a huge hit with this labor disagreement.

As a cavs fan and season ticket holder I don't give a fuck if it was fixed or not. After the national screw job we took last year at the hands of his highness we were due.

It was Cavs undoing for not building team around LeBron properly.  Everybody saw that the Cavs were terrible if LeBron didn't return to the Cavs which is true.  LeBron carried the team all by himself. Blame it on Danny Ferry for not building the team the right way.

It was obvious to me that LeBron wasn't going to return to Cleveland especially with the long drawn out FA.  When Tom Izzo turned down the job, I knew that LeBron wasn't coming back.

This 'analysis' shows little to no knowledge of the situation at hand. The last two years, the Cavaliers put a team around Lebron that won more games than Lebron won with Wade and Bosh. It's not like they didn't put a quality team around him. Yes, the Cavs were dependent on Lebron, like any team is dependent on its superstar, but to say they didn't build a team around him is wrong. Also, almost none of the blame should go to Ferry for this. The GM before him traded away the team's first round picks in 2005 and 2007 for garbage. And unlike most young players, Lebron turned around the franchise almost immediately. They missed the playoffs by one game his rookie year and only got better, not giving the Cavaliers a chance to make consecutive top-5 picks after they already had their superstar, like what happened in Oklahoma City.

Also, while the Cavs were terrible this year, but they also were missing Ilgauskas, Shaq, West, and Williams and Varejao were never healthy. This year's Cavs team was a far cry from the supporting cast actually put around Lebron.

National screwjob?

You gave him a crappy supporting cast in a crappy city. It's not a scandal that he left. It was magnified because Clevelanders (as well as Ohioans) are provincial as all hell and have a mammouth inferiority complex.

That you don't care if it was fixed (and let's face it -- scumbag Dan Gilbert probably isn't trotting out his ill kid without assurance that he won), you are a horrible sports fan.

Please allow me to clarify my earlier drunken europhoric post.  After watching LEBRON stick it to us last year every way he could to ensure that the Cavs would suck and I'd be stuck with great seats to shitty basketball, I was very happy to see things bounce Cleveland's way last night.

And for the record I was born and raised in a different "shitty town" (Pontiac, Michigan) and moved to this shitty town in the late 80's.
