OT MGoContest: Name Pitt's HC in 2013 and beyond
Working under the assumption that Paul Chryst heads back to become Wisconsin's HC after Bielema darted for the Arkansas job, who will coach the Panthers for the next 5 years? If anybody nails this through 2016, there's a crisp 100 dollar bill with your name on it (just remind me in 2016).
My guess:
2013: Skip Holtz (leaves when Pitt enters ACC)
2014: Bob Davie (Retires/Forced Resignation, heads back to ESPN)
2015: Paul Chryst (rehired after UW failure)
2016: Dan Marino (Chryst takes NFL OC job)

It's probably best to go conservative and take Jon Gruden. Trent Dilfer will probably end up being the Andrew Luck Director of Offense anyways.

Dave Wannstedt.
Forever.

2013: Chan Gailey (he coached in the NFL!)
2014: Luke Fickell (he was D coordinator on an undefeated team!)
2015: Charlie Weis (Patriots!)
2016: Romeo Crennel (Patriots!)
2017: Dane Crist (thought he was Paul Chryst)

Mike, Fucking, Ditka.

Greg Robinson. I hear he's been doing phenomenal work with high school punters these days.
December 4th, 2012 at 4:09 PM ^
Luke fickell (14-16) returns to osu when urban is burnt out or NCAA round 8 comes knocking.
2017 mike hart- gets his first hc gig after rapidly climbing the ranks at emu.
Later in 2032, hart will move on to his dream job at Michigan after Brady hoke retires after his 7th national title.

Only 7 national titles in the next 20 years? Come on, shooting a little low aren't ya?
December 4th, 2012 at 4:26 PM ^
Think Hoke is doing a good job, but don't think I want him sticking around until he's 74.
December 4th, 2012 at 5:32 PM ^
Yea, because Bill Snyder is doing so poorly at age 73.

Dan Roushar :)

I bet Paul Chryst stays at Pitt, got the program going the way he wants, why go?
December 4th, 2012 at 4:13 PM ^
Pitt is nobody's end game. Maybe it becomes a better job when they move to the ACC, but Wisconsin still is a much bigger name, and a guy like Chryst had a bunch of success there.
December 4th, 2012 at 4:14 PM ^
East coast guy, went to Youngstown State.
Dantonio will fire Roushar and not replace Narduzzi and coach everything himself because he's just that good.
December 4th, 2012 at 4:16 PM ^
He cuts his coaching teeth at Pitt and restores some pride to the Panthers including successful back-to-back appearances at the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl.

Pitt has a football program?
December 4th, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
If the Skip Holtz thing comes through, the next answer will be nobody, because the best way to crater your program is to hire a guy that was 3-9 in your own shitty conference and then move to a better one.
December 4th, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
You know Skip Holtz was fired from USF already, right?
December 4th, 2012 at 4:38 PM ^
...which makes him easily available, right?
December 4th, 2012 at 4:49 PM ^
Indeed... maybe I misread ("leaves for ACC gig" sounds like maybe you thought he had somewhere to leave from).
December 4th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
Yeah, I suppose I wasn't very clear. Meant "leaves when Pitt enters ACC", which I think is scheduled to happen in 2014. If it's next year, that comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
December 4th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
I think they'll hire a string of award winning coaches who were promptly fired, and then promptly fire them.
2013 Mangino
2014 Leach
2015 Petrino (leaves for a top job in a power conference, then Pitt follows him into said conference anyways)
2016 Tressel
2017 Chizik

an actual panther.

Not that I think Chryst has any reason to go back to Wisconsin, but I'll play:
Kevin Wilson. He picks up a couple 8-win seasons in the pathetic LITERS division and then bails on the MAC-with-its-own-cable-channel conference to go coach in a conference with some actual decent football teams, the ACC.

Paul Chryst resigns to take the Wisconsin HC position. He recommends Joe Rudolph (OC) for the position, but the AD, fearing alums, decides to pursue bigger names. Dave Wannstedt calls the AD, but he left for a week-long sailing trip instead. He returns to narrow his search to Tony Dungy and Sean Payton, who both refused to take his calls. He then tried to offer the job to Doug Marrone of Syracuse, who decides to stay at his alma mater after verbally agreed to the position. After two more weeks of criticism and rumors, during which Kirk Ferentz received a $1M per year raise from Iowa, Pitt ends up with their fourth coach in 5 years.
