OT - mgoblog referenced in article about Ohio
Scroll over "this": http://www.buzzfeed.com/lyapalater/why-you-should-care-about-ohio-everyd...
Hey that's us! woo!
You could have at least gave us a quote or some hint on what the article was about.
If you saw "mgoblog referenced in article about Ohio" and "Worst State Ever" didn't immediately pop into your mind, you haven't been paying attention.
worst state ever..
Terrible article. Having Ohio State is a huge negative, our band is better, and Michigan took the hot dog and made it better. Also:
I never knew before that Drew Carey was once a hot Marine.
I'm still not convinced
so it must be true.
"After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and making a name for himself in stand-up comedy, Carey eventually gained popularity starring on his own sitcom, The Drew Carey Show, and serving as host of the U.S. version of the improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, both of which aired on ABC."
I live in Ohio. That should be enough to convince you.
Convince me of what?
Beats me. Chopblock said he wasnt convinced. I figured once he learned that I made Ohio my abode he would be. Not sure of what however.......
If they weren't convinced before, I will let them know that I also live in Ohio. Now they should be adequately convinced.
I was an Ohio resident once as well (and still cheer for the Indians). I have first-hand experience on what a den of depravity and despair the state of Ohio is.
"That Buford is a sly one."
I just threw up in my mouth!
A few things:
- Skyline Chili is amazing.
- Buckeyes (the candy) are actually really good.
- I live in Ohio.
- Charles Woodson (and many other Michigan sports legends) is from Ohio.
- MGrowOld lives in Ohio.
I'd like to think that when you put all these things together, that upgrades Ohio's status a little bit from "worst state ever," but that university in Columbus is really hurting the state's value.
skyline chili=overrated, hell i can ,make a better chili and im not that great at chili
Skyline grossed about $90m in 2011, I can only imagine what your better chili would make.
McDonald's grosses billions of dollars in sales a year. I'm pretty sure I make better burgers than them.
The bottom line is that companies like McDonalds and Skyline produce the best and most efficiently made products in their field, which is why they make the money they do. When you're talking about making a better product, a lot more goes into "better" than saying you can make your family a delicious set of burgers in tiny batches.
"Most efficiently made," yes. That's all the explanation needed.
I do think the taste is better at McDonalds compared to the places they compete with. Other than the Wendy's Bacon Portabella Melt, I'd take several McDonalds burgers over any other burger I can get at a drive-thru in the midwest.
Maybe you can, but I've had a 3-way more times than I count. How many people do you know can say that?
Skyline chili is disgusting. I'm not even exaggerating. I ordered it once and refused to finish the bowl.
Skyline Chili is a miniature toilet bowl filled with predictably toilet-y things. Those of us not from the Cincy/Dayton area do not appreciate it and should not be lumped in with the rest of the state.
if they were looking for something to place toilet-y tasting things at a franchise based in Ohio I would have suggested a miniature cooler shaped box.
Your loss Magnus!
That is all.
until you just typed it like that. I'm an idiot.
Same here. I felt like a total dumbass.
Is this the line for dumbasses who can't read? Ok, I'm in it.
Yep. First in line for the MGroWold party here. Dumb.
Ok Ohio, you got:
2) Cedar Point
3) Skyline Chili
4) RAWK MUSIK
And hot dogs are pretty cool I guess. Other than that, BOOO. BOOOOOO.
Only good things to come out of Ohio...
and Bone Thugs
Also, Elvis Grbac.
Of course, its not even close to competing with the amount of talent thats come out of Detroit. (and no, not Eminem)
Notable Ohio artists like DJ Hi Tek, J Rawls, Copywrite and Theory Hazit.
- I like Ohio girls.
- Cedar Point.
- Athletes that venture north (i.e. Woodson, Howard, Burke).
- Mgrowold/Moleskyn live there.
A few musicians get the honorable mention tag as well.
"...so basically Ohio is the king of space."
This article, and indeed all of Buzzfeed.com, may mysteriously disappear when the Space Emperor sees it. I will say, however, that I do enjoy Put-In-Bay for this reason below...
Among other establishments. Put-in-Bay is a lot of fun. However, hyphenated names are no fun.
The intriguing thing about Put-in-Bay is that Canada could probably claim it without a lot of trouble, and then it would be even cooler to go there.
Any mgobloggers got connections to the Royal Canadian Navy?
seeing as the monument to O.H. Perry's victory - which doubles as the International Peace Memorial for US/Great Britain/Canada - is there. Ironic enough that I'm confident tempting fate and using the word "ironic" on the internet!
One good shot from a missile would take that thing out, then it's ON LIKE DONKEY KONG
This one's better!
Not convinced. I'm gonna need a lot longer list than that.
They may have all that but most if that was probably imported, they still suck.
Are you kidding me
Best part about Ohio is driving back to te Michigan border and seeing the Pure Michigan sign
I'm from Ohio and I'm being honest, Skyline chili no matter if you get it out of a can, buy it in Columbus or get it at a Reds game in Cincy is gross. The chili is overrated. Why not replace Skyline Chili with the Arnold Classic. I've seen several Michigan fans who are into physical fitness flock to Columbus for this event.
For the record: Gold Star > Skyline
Nice people and things are the exception, not the rule.
over 20 years; must say I do like the Skyline and the better half makes some good candy buckeyes (so we can devour them at Michigan tailgates and recitals, etc.). And I, like Coach Hoke, do also enjoy Montgomery Inn (although we've moved on to Sweet Baby Ray's sauce at home - I guess it's the Chicago roots).
Proudly supporting out of state Michigan tuition for many years... Do enjoy being a contrarian and wearing my Michigan apparel all around town.
But until one lives here, especially in central Ohio, one really doesn't know what it is like to live in single-mindedly-focused rapid nutcase fanbase college town. Have met many that think cities like Chicago *must* be the same way - everybody all focused on the Iliini of course.
Are buckeye fans really that much faster than any other fans?
and I cannot rapidly edit the rabid posting
Skyline is great and a once a week lunch trip for my office. If your in Cincinnati, you need to go to the original Montgomery Inn restaurant. I try not to cross the river from northern Kentucky if I don't have too. Go Blue.
Anyone have any idea why they're claiming Hot Dogs are from Ohio?
I always heard that the guy who started Coney Island Hot Dogs somewhere in NYC was the person who is given that distinction...(forget his name)
