OT: Kentucky Offers Eighth-Grader From Detroit

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

So this appears to be the SEC's strategy to get back at Harbaugh: They're coming into our state and stealing our middle-schoolers!

Kentucky offered a 6-4, 260-pound lineman from Oak Park. Big boy - he'll be playing alongside U-M commit Ja'Raymond Hall this season.

We need to get Delaney to call the NCAA and get these offers to kids not in high school banned. Think about the coaches time and their families!

Was attempting to make a joke about how everyone thought that this thread was about basketball until it wasn't so I tried to tie it to hockey instead even though it didn't exactly fit or really even make sense. Probably could've said linesman to at least make myself seem less like an idiot. Could've also put an /s.

Something about hindsight and 20's...

is really much of a novelty any more.  There are plenty of kids that hit early growth spurts that allow them to excel at an early age because they out size everybody they play against.  This becomes relevant news only when his skill level is determined to be as superior as his size, which happens much later in high school.

Seven inches taller than me and 80 pounds heavier and only, what, like 13 or 14 years old (25 years younger)? Clearly, my parents were not paying attention to things like nutrition or what might be in the water.

Even though it is a non-committable offer, it is still odd that the NCAA definition of "prospective student-athlete" still allows schools to offer this young.

I'll start caring about this in four years when it might actually matter.

There's no reason for any program to give an offer to a kid that hasn't even gotten to high school yet.
