OT: Jermaine Edmondson Leaving MSU

Submitted by Eskimoan on
Jermaine Edmondson is apparently leaving MSU after he asked for a release requesting more playing time. (For those who don't know, he's the guy that got into a fight with Draymon Green) photo Screenshot_2016-07-14-14-47-11-1.png

Still, for a team with 4 returning starters on offense and 6 on defense, MSU appears to be poised for a good season, mainly because of defense, but also solid TB, WRs corp and 3 starters back on the OL (effectively).

Another way to look at MSU's returning talent, though, is to say they lost their star QB, their two best offensive linemen, and their only playmaking WR. They also lost their top two DEs in Calhoun and Thomas, two of their top 3 LBs in Harris and Ed Davis, and their top DB in Williamson. You could argue that they lost nine of their top 11 starters, with Malik McDowell and LJ Scott being the only returning stars.

They return 5'11'' RJ Shelton as their number 1 WR. Josiah Price is an excellent receiving TE. After that, its a giant ???

Chambers and Corley are talented, but are True Fr.

They lost Burbridge, Kings Jr, Lang, and Arnett.

That's 142 receptions (out of 244), 2012 yards (out of 3279), and 14 TD's (of the 26 thrown).

Hope he does well wherever he goes.

Side note, this is incredibly stupid. Imagine Trey Burke in a bar brawl with Charles Woodson. It just doesn't make sense to me...until I remember it's Sparty we're talking about

I thought I had read somewhere that this was more or less going to happen before the fight, but I could be wrong. Perhaps the fight was simply an inadvertant coup de grace for his departue from MSU. I could be mistaken, but I seem to remember that MLive or some other outfit ran with that story that it was basically a done deal anyway.

Either way, the timing is kind of amusing.

Will be awaiting the expose by the Free Press. I am sure it will be dropping any day now.
